The problem with these switches is they are sitting where they can easily get loads of crap dropped into them

I have started having some problems with what I think is the ignition switch.

The starter motor has been checked and seems ok. They have moved back to the ignition switch but as it is an intermittent fault it cannot be repeated.

I have been quoted 440+vat+testbook+something+something (totalling 700+ & al long wait) for a "whole lock kit".

Reading this thread it seems that the barrel only can be replaced and every lock and key.

Would anyone have a parts numbers that I can quote to the mechanic and ask why the full replacement?.

Many thanks in advance.

hi, all you need is the part code under the key lock, or locks the entire kit?

Hello,
both would be great
the garage is saying that the part is only available as a full lock kit.

Had the same Problem at a clients car, it was the steering lock in the steering column, build it out, and opended the box with the lock, the parts are not to buy, but I recon all parts, build in the column, and all is ok. Landrover itself wante to sell a new column, 4.000 Euro plus Fixing! A Picture Shows the parts.

I came across this gem of information

http://www.blackbox-solutions.com/photos/L322lock.pdf

Basically it shows you where to drill and squirt WD40 - also RSW AllComms has something on his site about the interlock.

Hope it helps.

Good luck and let us know how you get on - I am thinking of doing a pre-emptive strike against mine - on my TO DO list.

Bon voyage. Howard

@smutt, thank you very much for this article, but I know it, is no good solution, because you can drill to deep, or at a wrong Position, then the Solenoid ist defect. Better to build out and recon the Solenoid, mostly inside broken. Thegood RSW Storey has a good Picture from the lock, but has also no solution for it. So believe me, best way, build out and renew the Solenoid. Best rgs, Uli L405 SDV8 2017 + Lancia Flavia Coupe 1964 + RRS L494 3.0 SDV6 + C220CDI Convertible 2021

Hi Uli

Thank you very much for the information.

How did you cut your steering lock open? (eg Angle Grinder, Hacksaw?)

And where did you cut? (did you have any pictures?)

Many thanks for your time - I am sure others would be interested Howard

After build out the whole column, I open the shape of the metallbox near the steering wheel, there are six Little black Splint, like screws, and after open, you will se the Solenoid, you can take him out easy. You have to Change or recon him, then all in the other way retour. Best rgs L405 SDV8 2017 + Lancia Flavia Coupe 1964 + RRS L494 3.0 SDV6 + C220CDI Convertible 2021
