Won't start - Immobiliser problems ?

I'm having trouble starting my TD6 Big Cry Sometime takes up to 50 turns of the key before it will start Shocked

Battery & starter are new within the last 6 months.

What I do get when I turn the key, is a noise (buzz/whirr) from inside the console, from what I'm told (from members of this forum Thumbs Up ) is the immobiliser . I've now had a Hawkeye plugged in and fault code says 'immobiliser (ews)'

Is this going to mean a costly trip to the main dealers Sad Sad

Any help or advice gratefully received.

when you put your key in it should make a clicking /whir noise, this indicates the gear release and immobiliser are off. ... - .- -.

When you stick the key in, the immobilizer "releases" the electric steering lock (that is the click you hear in the steering column).

Is the problem only with one key or does it happen with the spare key(s) as well ??

When you stick the key in, jiggle the steering wheel a bit from left to right to make it easier for the lock to disengage, maybe that mechanism is struggling to disengage the lock. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Yes it does do that 'normal' sound, but this is a different one it makes (when the key is in the cranking position)

There's no problem turning the key, the lock disengages fine.

The sound is from the immobiliser - you can also feel the high pitched vibration if you hold it when it's buzzing while cranking.

There's no power (when cranking) getting to the cable on the starter solenoid Confused

I don't know the L322 system, but I would have thought it unusual for an immobiliser to make a sound or vibrate Confused

Yes, I'm thinking I may need to bite the bullet and book it in at the dealers (If it will start) Sad

But, to be honest, it's an expense i could do without at the moment...

Unfortunately the spare key has never worked since I got the car 2 yrs ago, battery was flat at the time, and when I replaced it, it wouldn't work - so it's been kicking about in the back of drawer ever since (another job I never got round to doing)

Yes, I've had all connections off and checked / cleaned them Sad

So when you move the key to the cranking position the starter motor does not turn?

Sounds like a bad connection somewhere
