Nothing really in there that would overly bother me - guess it is the 4.4 v8

I had a 2004 4.4. It had coolant leakage from the back of the engine, though was running fine. I was advised that this was bad news. The coolant leak might be cured by new head/gasket work, but there was no guarantee that would be a permanent solution. The alternatives were a new engine or a new car. The head work was expensive enough, and a new engine was not worth it, so I bought a new car.

If in doubt (as CS says) look elsewhere

IMO sounds poorly maintained, wire holding bumper on, Inop headlamp washers, low oil, loose oil housing, etc etc.

The headlight washers operate every 5 times you wash the screen with the lights on, so worth double checking that issue a few more times with the headlights on.

I'd agree, but as to the thread title "is a 2004 Vogue with these faults worth buying?" The answer is yes, if it's the right price! I mean it's probably worth a couple of grand in parts if you broke it up. In practical terms i suppose it's going to depend on your ability to fix the items, if it was cheap enough i'd buy it and fix the items myself. But if you don't have time and have to pay a garage to do it all, then it's probably easier to find a better one, there are lots out there. |

You have to be realistic on an 11 yr old car and this has not been dressed up. Any tin pot dealer can solve most of those issues with steam cleaning, and a few nuts bolts and wheel centre caps. And headlight adjustment/wiper check. And maybe a better bumper repair. I think the AA man has covered himself well. there is a buyers guide on here in the Wiki, and that is very detailed. you should be looking into how many regular services it has had, and owners etc. and what items have had any historic problems. These v8 engines do leak, and that's often because of hardened rocker cover gaskets, and the valley pan seal on the water circuit. Or as stated, the water pump. (It sounds like the fan has been knocked about instead of being spannered off)

£7.50 when i had to buy that part a couple of years ago for my 2002 model. Apparently they have a life of around 10 years, so i got an extra three years as a bonus. |

So, by how much should I knock the price down if I were take this on and sort the faults myself? |

its very difficult to guess-timate cost of repairs, but it sounds like you could just drive it around and get to know your car, whilst keeping an eye on on mentioned faults, rather than throwing your wallet straight at it. apart from the water leak. consider that the priority. look at the mot advisory sheet, what did he point out etc? brakes? dangerous bumper fix?
