VPower or not?

Usually steer clear of supermarket fuel and fill up at my local shell station.

I used to run my Sprinter on nothing but the premium Vpower diesel and TBH it did make a difference on both MPG and performance, quite a big difference really.

Does anyone else run on just premium diesel and if so, what difference does it make to the FFRR??

I run bp standard fuel, not supermarket tho, only put half a tank in when I feel like it. Run the company vans on nothing but tesco fuel, all have never had an issue.

I try to use only V Power of BP Ultimate diesels, largely based on my experience of super unleaded being better on my 4.4 petrol 322 (about 10% better mpg so covering the extra cost and noticeably better performance). I have hardly used ordinary diesel, but when I have (Scottish islands/northwest where no super diesel available) the mpg seemed to be poorer, though stop-start driving on single track roads there may have been a factor too.
My handbook recommends "high quality" fuel for towing, which suggests that there is a difference in performance between fuels.
I am aware of instances of supermarket diesel sludging in the very cold winter we had 5 or so years ago, when other suppliers' diesel did not.
There's a recent thread on this topic on the 405 section too. Only Range Rovers since 1988

My Jaguar used to be noticeably better on BP Ultimate Diesel, whereas on V-Power it didn't seem to be quite so good. I suspect while there is a different calorific value for the Super Diesel, most of the benefits are from the detergents in them keeping the engine cleaner -diesel being a fairly sooty fuel.

On the petrol's the 4.4 has knock sensors, so in theory running it on Super Unleaded will allow it to advance the timing more (higher octane)
