United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Causeway Grey
L322 Supercharged with 2012 conversion

Hi,
Looking to buy another FFRR as I miss my old one. I've been looking at 3.6 TDV8's but notice some 4.2's have LPG.

I've always dismissed them as I was told they just don't work and will damage the engine.
I've come across this one which looks great for the price but it's LPG (no mention of which kit) and it looks like there are 2 bolts on the front wings??

Opinions?

Thanks

^Yep, had the same on mine, but it was me who removed them.

It is possible to get the holes welded up and have the wings repainted but tbh it's a pain and if it bothers you I would look at others. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Oh ok, Wouldn't bother me as i'd sort it but was just curious.

Surprised it still for sale considering the mileage/spec/conversion.

Will do.
I think I'd rather a 3.6 but only do about 30 miles a day during the week so not sure that's enough.

As Craig says - do your research and make sure you understand all the details of the conversion - if it's not fully documented and done to the highest standard, then it's a big gamble.

I have an LPG Jaguar XJ8 - been driving it for 6 years with no issues at all (it's now for sale as I need the room) and I also wanted to get a LPG L322 but a friend has one (not SC) and his has spent the last 6 months in a garage while they try to "cure" a fault (and it spent a fair amount of time in and out of there before that) - he loves the car and is willing to wait for it but it put me right off, and after talking to a few others over here in Northern Ireland who also owned converted ones there seemed to be a general consensus to not buy one so I bought a TD6 - There may be some owners out there running converted models but as yet I have not found one.

Had mine converted 18 mnths ago - some teething problems with getting the fuel map correct

runs perfect now - you will need a valve saver system installed for peace of mind if nothing else.

its a keeper so we will see how it fares in the long term .

Not if the original owner didn't spec it. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

For what it's worth regarding LPG - I've had my 4.2S C Converted to LPG, no issues, had it for 6 years now no problems what so ever...
In terms of fitting an LPG kit, I toyed between PRINS and BRC.
I opted for the BRC conversion, it struck me as more comprehensive and it also added the Valve saver fluid tank, which some kits don't offer.
Moreover, the SC does put a large demand on the lpg injection rail and regulator, but I had a larger one ordered, usually fitted on the American engines, which copes with the demand no-problem-at-all.
I feel it's also worth mentioning, that LPG kits need regular servicing, as do any, they need their filters changed, pressures checked, leak testing and regulators balanced, this should be done at a reputable LPG specialist every 12k miles or 1 year.
Hope this is of some use.

A good conversion costs since they take the time to remove the manifold for drilling. They should come with an oil mister system to to keep the valves happy as LPG is a dry gas. What doesn't kill you is just bidding it's time.

Having had 322's on lpg including jaguar engined one, no problem at all, feeling no difference in power, just need a service every year and a valve lubing system, which BRC does standard on the 322.
