hi all, i'm thinking of fabricating a roof rack for my range rover l322 2003. the only problem is i don't know what the fitting that locates into the roof looks like. i wouldnt want to loose it on the M6. if anyone has a sketch or photo hopefully with dimensions it would be great. thanks.

Can you get a Thule 'foot pack' from Halfords for a pair or Thule roof bars? You can buy them separately from the bars, and it'll give you the roof fittings, you can then modify the other end of the Thule parts to suit your rack.

this add contains some FF Thule reference numbers. might be able to get working drawings or install pics off these?

When you say 'fabricating', I'm expecting something more like a G4 expedition rack than a couple of Thule bars ?

sorry for the late response my internet has been down, thanks for all your input, yes alistair im talking a full size rack to use on camping trips and to remove it for the rest of the time.

Right I can do you one better - I've got a 3D model drawn up for you. Accurate to ~0.1mm the paint thickness varies the dimensions a bit.

If you want I can provide an Inventor model for it (or anything I can export from the Pro version so Step files etc, but not solidworks )

A few points I noted when Duckworth Dan and I fitted it and also when I removed it.

When installed these brackets don't sit flat because of the curve of the roof, the brackets on the roof-rack that sit these mounts follow that contour. However the middle one because of this bend meant that I had to cut ~3/4" off one of the 3mm plates that bolt the rack down so it could be installed.

When I removed the rack I think the central gap could possibly be widened because it crushed the paint around the bolt hole. But that's being picky (but then again we are on a Full Fat forum).
