Scotland 2006 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Bonatti Grey
L322 fuel pump leak...

Hi folks, has anyone experienced their main pump leaking diesel when running?.
I noticed it when I was checking the ball joints on the steering rack and it was dripping pretty bad.
I can't properly see where it's coming from as there is another pump in the way.
What's the process and is it do-able at home?.

Where is the leak coming from. You have two pumps, one in the tank and the other under a cover by the LR wheelarch?

If the leak is in the engine bay then it is coming from somewhere else?

I'm not an expert on the TD6, but there should be 3 Fuel pumps.

The lift pumps in and beside the tank. But there should also be a high pressure distribution pump, which i would assume it located under the bonnet?

You are right - the injection pump, tucked away under the inlet manifold, looks like a right pig to get at, lots of dismantling, coolant drain down, but it could just be some loose connection. Not for faint-hearted, also a couple of special tools for releasing sprocket from pump.

For future reference: injection pump listed under engine management system in RAVE, the other two pumps under fuel delivery system, hence my omission Smile .

Hi guys, thanks for the replies and the guidance.
It's the pump under the bonnet, n/s behind the whole front end.
Hopefully it's something that's loose and not needing a new pump but I was just putting it out there for help to see if these are prone to seals going, hence needing replaced. "Scotland is poorer in Men but richer in Heroes"

They are quite prone to leaking. If it gets much worse, eventually it won't start.

Same happened to the sister in laws car a few weeks back.

You can buy seal kits, but they seem to be a bit hit and miss whether they work or not...

If it is the pipe from the fuel filter to the injector pump, I had the same issue last year. The pipe also has a take off for the FBH. I found out it is a LR supply only part, but Craddocks got me one and with postage it wasn't cheap. £92:00.

My one that the end of the pipe onto the pump had perished.

Thanks for the replies guys.
I'll strip her down to see if it's an easy fix and put her right.
I love my Vogue so she'll get the best treatment to get her back up to speed.
