Hi Guys,

Silly question - where do I put my trolley jack so I can raise it hight enough to get the front wheel off..?

Tried the normal jacking point behind the wheel but can't get it high enough to raise the wheel off the ground?

I have a block of wood I use with mine - not ideal, but I don't really want to buy a special high liftt trolley jack.

Buy the Mercedes Sprinter hydraulic jack, plenty of stroke to get the wheels up  MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Put it under the front wishbone...

Or put the car in off road height and use a large block of wood under the whole jack, safer that way

Don't forget to leave a door open so the FF doesn't try to self level when you have it jacked up.... Pete

^ plus 1 on the location of the jacks under the wishbones, use to do that on my 2006 SC with the normal trolley jack until I got the Sprinter bottle jack for flat tyres (happened twice in Nigeria).

In other words, Sprinter jack for travelling needs, trolley jack at home (I have a 5 tonnes here as well). MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

After reading this thread I tried to jack up my car via the wishbone. I lifted the car ok but the small trolley jack was just lifting off the ground on one side due to the angle of the wishbone. A bit of further reading and I came across using an Ice hockey Puck between the jack and car as acts a bit like a bearing. I picked one up via ebay and can only say its a brilliant suggestion. 2007 TDV8 VSE

They don't give you much - a couple of cm - but the material is good

I used to use one before I bought one of these

My kids play ice hockey so there's always a few pucks knocking around the house....

You should really get a bigger jack then, if it's tilting it's not up to the job...

My two tonnes trolley jack, underneath the shock mounting point got the wheel well of the ground. But like Pete says, if the jack is doing funny things like tilting, something is wrong !!!! Wouldn't wanna think that it falls of while you are working on it, not even if you are not under it !!! MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

You can whip off the plastic under tray and there is a flat section on the front cross member which is an approved jacking point.

There is also the same on the rear, but it's a &*@:"t because the exhaust pipes are in the way. For the front though it's pretty easy and gives bags of lift.

As echoed above I think if your jack is tilting, there is an issue that would give me the heebies about using it!

I've got a couple of those small trolley jacks. They're ok for a normal car, but they're working at the very limit of their capacity on a range rover. They're handy for positioning heavy items though.

I bought a Weber trolley jack, http://www.pteonline.co.uk/shop/weber-stan...%29%7C250/ It's a dream to use compared to those cheap ones.

For a Range Rover you're far better off with one of those cheap 3 tonne jacks that everyone sells, but if you're buying a new jack for a 4x4 you may as well get a high lift one.
