Drivetrain Oils.. Money..

So, I picked up a TDV8 3.6 a couple weeks ago now, very happy with the car, got a lot of info on it, and know what has been done and what it still needs doing. The fella I bought it off said none of the drivetrain oils have been changed, OK no worries, I know my way around a car I'll do that myself, cheers for telling us. Has to be done as it's done 86k. Went to LR parts today, enquiring what sort of money for all the oils, and personally I think they're taking the Censored .. Wanted to know what anyone else thought, and indeed if I can get it cheaper elsewhere.

So I said to the fella "Got a full fatty, wanna replace the drivetrain oils, F&R diffs, transfer box, and the gearbox oils, but I want to do a flush on the tranny, get as much old out as I can." After I was rather firm that no box is sealed-for-life, he taps on the computer, and pulls out 16 litres of Shell ATF, and it's over £300! For all the oils, I'm looking at little change from a monkey! Really!?

As it was Stratatone, I figured they'd be more than Dave down the road, but I got the part numbers I wanted. Is the figure right, and can it be gotten cheaper elsewhere at all?

Only use genuine fluids though never think you are being clever and use generic alternatives it will bite you in the bum sooner or later Crying or Very sad
For some stuff like your transfer box synthetic oil you will probably have to use the Stealers Big Cry 2008 MY Supercharged

I don't know about shell ATF , but when I did my gearbox I used Lifeguard ZF6 as stated by ZF themselves.(6hp26 gearbox)

I didn't do a flush but only a drain , changing the filter and pan as well. The transfer box ,front and rear diffs I changed as

per the owners handbook specifications and quantity .

I found that doing research together with reading the forums a great help. Once I had the info I searched around for the

best prices.

Have a look at INCAR German Manufacturers auto parts.

Shell M 1375.4 is apparently the same oil but at pretty much the same price I for one wouldn't risk it Whistle
Shell got the contract to develop Life Guard 6 and the specs look the same, butt,,,,,, 2008 MY Supercharged

Heh, cheers everyone..

Yeah, I'm definitely not getting any generic fluids, don't worry about that. That's why I went to Stratstone, for the part numbers, high-end vehicles need the right stuff.

This is what they said:
Transmission: TYK500050, Shell ATF M1375.4
Transfer Box: IYK500010
Front Diff: TYK500010
Rear Diff: LR019727

That kit on Bristol Transmissions says non-Genuine, mmmmm... If it's OEM, that's cool I'll grab that, but it doesn't say if it's OEM or pattern, don't want no pattern junk. Give 'em a bell I suppose. I found a kit on Advanced Factors for £215, it looks legit...

This is the gearbox oil I used although I didn't get from here .

I only ever use the real Mcoy as stated by LR , so as to maintain the warranty

From memory the other numbers you mentioned ring a bell.

the gearbox oil will cost you £21 per litre and you will need 7 litres , more if you do a double drain , diff oil is about £10 a ltre and 2 litres does both , transfer box oil is £20 litre and you need 2 . not sure

everything you need is on ebay just make sure you get all the right stuff
