Having trawled through the posts within this section, I'm struggling to find the info I need.

I have a 2003 autobiography, that has the factory option rear Alpine monitors mounted in the back of the front seats. The original DVD multiplayer has been replaced with a VST single player unit. There is a DVD power switch panel in the roof panel alongside the sunroof switches.

Having done some testing with a fluke, I've determined that there is no permanent live to either the DVD player nor the screen modules under the drivers seat (UK). Switched ignition is present however. Not noticing the DVD master switch at this point (who looks up eh?) I thought I'd test the system by supplying a permanent live from the aux power supply in the arm rest cubby hole. This powers the system and gets it working a treat, until you come to turn the ignition off and remove the key! Dash remains lit, put the key back in and it won't turn. Remove the power and all shuts down as it should. I'm obviously getting a back feed in the circuit. Now it's time to get the system working as it should.

I have played with the overhead master switch, but cannot get a permanent 12v DC supply to appear. I believe there is a voltage sensitive relay hidden in the dash on the passengers side??

Can anyone give me some more info (pics are great) of the whereabouts of this relay, fuse locations and the icing on a cake, a decent wiring diagram?

I have the RAVE discs with wiring diagrams on them, but they do not cover the optional DVD player it seems.

I will admit that I haven't tested the switch as yet (not sure why as it's dead simple)

I'm sure this is a simple fix, but need a bit more info to home in on it.

i'd be careful about having a permanent live as the FF's battery tends to run out of power quite quickly so with an ignition feed and the engine running you'll be sure that the FF will start. ... - .- -.

Yep, fully aware of that Stan which is why I fitted a switch in the temporary live feed. The system apparently was fed via this voltage sensitive relay automatically cutting off supply at below 11.6 volts (ish) and it is this I wish to reinstate.

Just wondered if anyone had links to circuit diagrams to aid in the fault finding?

I see what you're saying now. The system requires a permanent feed present before the switched ignition is applied before it fires up. Bit strange for a vehicle but that's the way it works in this case, hence the VSR I guess?

I have that file on disc and unfortunately, can't find any detail on the rear seat entertainment on it, unless I'm looking in the wrong place of course.

It's a bit frustrating as the manuals list all other components including the TV system but nothing that I can see on the optional extras.

I think your system is made up of a bit of all sorts sir... Certainly not all factory! I would employ a good auto elec to sort it

The above link is a small manual that I found online. The screens, master switch panel and possibly the VSR all look factory (at the least the guy who had dealings with designing it seems to think so)

The player definately isn't though as it should have been a multichanger apparently.

I will stand in for the good auto electrician and remove the temporary test fix. Time to get the Fluke out again and see what's what I think.
