That's a VERY interesting theory. Very Happy

I think Clarkson/May/Hammond in "Not Top Gear" will be more Top Gearish than three new presenters in the BBC's 'Real Top Gear."

It wouldn't suprise me if the BBC, with JC getting too much for them to handle, prepared for the inevitable straw. I think the writing was on the wall, the Beeb became more intolerant of his behaviour and he didn't seem to care at all so it was on a road to collision. And being a big corporation they would have been preparing back-up scenarios and this one seems a plausible scenario.

Not that I think the "Real Top Gear" will do well with JC and the rest not there. The "chemistry" of the three musketeers (or should I say stooges) is quite a substantial part of the programs succes and possibly JC being 50% of that chemistry.

I feel that JC won't be as good on his own and neither will May and Hammond do well as a duo or solo. When they are working as a trio, it is quite nice even though the formula is getting a bit "grey" they still do a hell of a lot better than any other show I have seen in decades !!!

So in short, I hope that another company picks up the three and give them a formula that is very similar to the current Top Gear, hopefully freshen it up a bit with some new producers and some of the old team.

And they should send JC to anger management course as well, because that sort of behaviour is utter BS, if it is correctly reported. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

The BBC will try and revive TG and my money is on three women presenters to give it a completely new look with Suzi Perry as the anchor.
The others are debatable but personally I'd go with Sabine Schmitz and VBH. Regards

Or....

The BBC cancel whatever plans they have for 2016's TG (in whatever form the pundits think it may take) and suggest that JC 'takes time out' along with May and Hammond pursuing other BBC projects during that period.

Then the three of them return to their rightful places in 2017 with all differences behind them and start afresh.

Does that sound so unreasonable? Si. <This is my name.

clarkson's sacking and the probable end of top gear is a blessing in disguise as the programme was getting predictable and they were running out of ideas...
there are plenty of car type programmes on the discovery and history channels so there's plenty to watch.. ... - .- -.

Not sure it bores me, and indeed in some respects the whole saga fascinates me, in terms of the social media "noise" it has created.

The thread is a bit like a bag of chips - you know you shouldn't but every now and then can't help yourself from diving in Thumbs Up

Ceegee, Yawn Yawn do you also watch TV programs you don't want to watch...?

I agree with Gaz, I do not want 3 women or other half wit car professionals doing TG I want my 3 fools doing this show and on which channel....? I couldn't care less, as long as I can get it on my satellite decoder in English, without some idiot voice over that ruins the humour and intentions.

I want, I want Big Cry

OKOKOK I know I am getting childish here,

I made an official complaint to the BBC and just got this response:

Same old Censored as in the papers...

So far I've refrained from commenting on this subject. What he did was wrong without a doubt but the way it has been (mis)handled by the BBC and blown out of propertion by others is ridiculous.

I am an avid watcher of Top Gear and will defintely miss it. I don't watch it to see them going sideways round the track in the latest supercar but I watch it for the entertainment factor that the challenges give (I know most of it is staged!). Some people seem to think it is a serious car show - it's not, there are lots of other shows like that and I watch most of them too. This is entertainment based around cars and it suits me fine like that. I wouldn't like to see anyone else trying to copy it though.
