Think it is time for Clarkson to go, he is just getting boring now with his pathetic attempts to court controversy and childish behaviour 56 TDV8 Vogue SE

I like the show, even if the concept is getting a bit tired and it is turning into more of the same. I like Clarkson, even when I sometimes don't agree with certain things he says (I have a BIG issue with any form of racism) as he does make sense a lot of the time in his columns/books.

He can be a bit annoying sometimes as well but hey so do most people.

However if he did hit/slapped etc. a co-worker, that is not on and I think most companies have rules against it for a good reason. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

'....and on that bombshell, I will NOT see you next week,'
Sorry but I'm tired of that show, the parts shot in other countries are spectacular to watch, but are very childishly 'enacted' ie the bumping into all the time, the sabotaging of other team vehicles, all 'caught on camera' and the silly points scoring. It's a bit like a comedy show from 1970's with expensive location filming, and cars that are slowly smashed up scene by scene, and just about complete the journey.
The star in car is a bit boring nowadays, the news segment is slightly interesting, but brought down by oafish pub type talk. -and anyone/brand that's not Brilish, is discredited by JC to make us Brits seem very un-imaginative. The two sidekicks cannot ever 'one-up' the Clarkson.

I bet his contract is up for renewal at end of series, and I think the show should re-launch -re-styled, with a new presenter.

There is much discussion about the money turned over licensing the show abroad, but We are behind the funding, and the BBC is very aware of it's public image.
Other types of car show are around and I watch them too, but they're not filmed in a silly way.

Does this mean that the 'Dave' channel will go bust too.

And what about the tyre company that replaces all, the test vehicles tyres, spare a thought for that guy!

Not agreeing with any work place violence or racism in anyway.

Regardless of whether or not you like or dislike The Top Gear Format it is refreshing to have someone that is prepared to give an opinion that may not be PC or what the mainstream liberals agree with. Provided an opinion does not incite violence or call for harm to be caused should everyone not be free to have and voice their own opinions regardless of whether others agree rather than all being forced to hide what we think and go along with the "harmless majority". If you are not allowed to say you don't like something that is generally accepted or say you like something that most don't then you are not too many steps away from calling to punish those who don't agree with the what whoever is in charge says or believes.

If I say I don't like blondes or green cars or diesels or trainers or want to sit next to the 20 stone woman on a plane does that make me wrong? All I am doing is expressing an opinion to which others may or may not agree with and have the choice to listen to or ignore.

If we were really bothered about being PC we wouldn't drive a FF as I'm sure they upset most people on some level.

to me it is simple express your opinions provided they don't harm anyone, if people want to listen or agree they will, if they don't they won't.

With JC viewing figures, DVD sales etc... show that a fair few don't find him too offensive and those that do don't have to watch or listen.

Old saying, Opinions are like ars3 holes, every one has one and most of them stink.

No offense intended to anyone just feed up with the PC thought police trying to outlaw freedom to think and inn the end probably causing lots of the more extreme views which I chose to ignore and not to listen to. There is a difference between knowing your sh!t and knowing you're sh!t

Why did they have to cancel the show this week.
If Clarkson was ill they would still run the show with either a guest presenter or one of the other two stepping into his slots.
So why have I as a viewer been punished.
Is it a PC decision. I don't care if some arty farty airey fairy namby pamby director has had a run in with an egotistical nob. I want to see Top Gear this week Banging Head Banging Head Travelling around in circles again.

Hopefully it will be permanent this time. Old, tired and so 1998, it's time TG was put out of its misery. No longer funny or relevant and neither is JC.

I fear you are right. But without TG, what else has the BBC got to offer? Think they will be very careful before axing the show as it brings in millions through sales to other countries and merchandise. Might end up costing us by a licence tax hike.

I read in the Dutch News that Clarkson owns the production company that produces Top Gear for the BBC, so in other words he could pull the show if he is not presenting i.e. suspended (assuming the contract allows for such actions, which they usually don't).

The article also said that he makes about 14 million GBP per annum from the show through magazines, the "local" TGs etc. Plus his writing, plus his books. Not sure how much his divorce is going to cost him though but still, a pretty penny. I can't imagine that the BBC (they only state in the article that BBC makes 157 million GBP but for Top Gear, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Who so not per show) will jeopardize that income. I bet that they are just making a statement towards JC and the person that was in the fracas, some pretty harsh words will be said, money may have to change hands (fine whatever) but ultimately they will continue with the show, it makes too much money to not to. The BBC will do their best to milk it as much as possible until it stops bringing in the big bucks !!

And regarding PC behaviour, I do understand it in a day and age where you can destroy a business by "misbehaving" or saying the wrong thing, not to mention the more extreme violence related to religion. I can imagine the BBC management going mental when JC makes a discriminatory remark since it could cost them their jobs (don't think any government today in the "western" world will let them get away with it, since the "voters" won't do so either). The backlash of non-PC remarks can be huge and VERY expensive.

That doesn't mean I don't like it when he gets on his high horse about certain things like vegetarianism and his other bug bears (FYI, I have been vegetarian for more than a decade, that's why I can drive a FFRR emission wise and work in Oil and Gas and not feel (too) guilty Smile ). However when he or anyone else starts being racist, that is going too far. That is not being a little bit non-PC it is just plain wrong. Too much racism in the world already and it is the biggest BS I can think of as there is no basis for it and it actually hurts people BADLY (I'm extra sensitive on this subject due to personal reasons).

As for hitting people in the work place, completely unacceptable as well. If it was a little push in anger, still not good but sometimes tempers do flare. I mean if you say something negative about the Popes mother, you get a slap, maybe the person on the receiving end did something like that. So on the topic of the fracas, I propose that we all stay silent since none of us has any idea what has happened, under what circumstances, who did/said what, was there a history, where there any others involved (including JCs supposedly new lover) etc. We just don't know so no use even discussing it IMHO. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

When I was young we would call the red haired "ginger" a black man "blacky" and someone with glasses a "squinty" our Jewwish neighbours were "the jews" and I was a "muscled nail" or "garden-hose" because I was so skinny. My friend next door had protruding ears we called him "flappy". No one would feel insulted or take you to court.

JC is still doing these kind of things and that's why I like him. He has an opinion and the bloody bunch of leftwing PC does not like his opinion, so try to call it indecent and uncivilized. Top Gear might be repeating itself, I still like it. I am so fed up with al this political correct waxfaces that crowd my screen, that We are watching less and less TV.
It is better for the family life and you feel not so tired in the morning.
If you ask me (but you probably wont) JC should slap some more waxfaces. Twisted Evil

And other car programs are so freeking boring, they show cars, tyres, gears rpm, mpg and talking slippery faces.
For me TG each and every time!

I'm a vegie also (well pescetarian) and don't take offence at all that. I find his light-hearted comments about the French and Germans pretty well balanced with is self deprecation of the Brits, so I don't really see it as racism, more banter. A bit like two fat people mocking each other.

I don't believe he's a racist. I didn't like the Mexican stuff, but it was Hammond who was more offensive than him with that. I didn't like him reciting the 'eenie meenie miney mo' rhyme as everyone knows how it's meant to go, although at the time I didn't hear him use the 'n' word'. But I think he's only guilty of banter that oversteps the mark sometimes and some insensitivity.

I do understand why people could be offended by it, but some people are ready to be offended and don't look at the intent of the offender.
