United States 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Scotia Grey

RR went back to service department on Monday 2/23 to attempt to fix the rattle again.

Still there, so going on seven (7) days in for repairs out of 31 days of ownership ... so I've had no use of a brand new 2015 RR for 23% of the time I have owned it.

I don't even get to enjoy the new car smell in my new car ... 2015 RR ATB (Scotia Grey w/Cirrus-Ebony)

I would be rejecting. I think it's easier in the US too!

Not so easy, but I have started all the documentation if we end up heading in that direction. Contacted LR North America today to get my concerns documented and get a case number. 2015 RR ATB (Scotia Grey w/Cirrus-Ebony)

Well what a lovely car you have, you should be loving the experience, what a shame that the failings of JLR and then the dealer have left such a taint on it, I do hope you sort it soon.... my 13year old example had a rattle last week and I was mortified, then found a jar of coffee in the back that had fallen from a bag of shopping, I don't think yours will be such an easy fix..... I'd ask to see the Dealer Principal and make him/her aware of your plight, the lower echelons of the dealership certainly wont be informing them....

Good Luck Pete

Thank you Pete. Believe me, the first thing I did was empty the RR of everything, but there wasn't much to begin with, only the luggage retention kit that came with the RR. I hadn't even added umbrellas, pens, tissues, etc to the RR yet.

Got a call from service at 3pm this afternoon. They have taken off the front and sides of the dashboard. The noise is now louder without those pieces, but they still can't find the source. 2015 RR ATB (Scotia Grey w/Cirrus-Ebony)

Oh where are the days when British Leyland used to build quality motor cars! Laughing

@CSK

Sadly British Leyland's quality control is alive and well at LR.

Which is a damn shame.

Imagine Land Rovers built with Japanese standards of quality. Who in their right mind would buy an X5 when you can get the RR Sport? In a world where the L405 was made with Honda levels of reliability, fit and finish; could you imagine a better car?

I love my L405 and can't imagine driving anything else. But, some spills and thrills along the way mean our household is restricted to one LR.

My theory is that's why we love them, they need constant care and attention, and when they don't, we know they will so are kept thinking of them, a bit like having kids....

Had a Lexus LS430 years ago and it was a fabulous car, much nicer than the Merc S500 I had before, but it did everything it should, all the time..... never needed any care and attention as as such I got bored with it pretty soon....

So maybe if we actually got what we wished, a totally reliable FF we wouldn't love it so much..... Pete

I would have preferred the honeymoon last a bit longer than 280 miles!! No car yet (8 days), but service called today, positive that they are getting close to knowing which part is causing the rattle. I just want it fixed. 2015 RR ATB (Scotia Grey w/Cirrus-Ebony)

It is a real shame you are suffering these problems. I am going to stand up for LR though. I have so far driven 40,000 miles in two L405 (30,000 & 10,000). Compared to my previous Range Rovers (14) the build quality and staying together is a quantum leap forward. I live down a lane which could be used for washboard desert testing or jungle track at different times of the year. Neither car rattles or squeaks down the lane at whatever speed.

It is a fact of life that internet forums tend to have posts from owners who have had a problem and want to tell everyone of their disappointment, it is the same with a repair shop they will tell you all the faults but then that is the only time they see cars.

I really hope you get your car fixed and get to enjoy it. The colour is stunning.

Nick Ground, lucky you getting 2 perfect L405 ... some of us have not been so lucky. I have been very patient with service and one of the only things I can do is let others know that there can be problems. Also, if none of us documented the problems, how would that help the next person who ends up with the same issues?

5 pm - Just got a call from service ... now going into day ten (10) of attempted repairs for a rattle. It seems they started putting dashboard panels back on and it looked positive, but on the last test drive they drove over a bump in the road and it shook things up and got the rattle going all over again. Just a reminder that I have only owned the 2015 RR for 34 days ... not only have I not had use of the RR for nearlly 27% of that time, but they keep adding mileage with every test drive. 2015 RR ATB (Scotia Grey w/Cirrus-Ebony)

Ms Mdx

Please don't think that I do not sympathise. I have had plenty of experience with poorly manufactured LR product, I'm on my 16th FFRR.

I was responding more to those that talk as if the quality has not been improved and that JLR lags far behind other car manufacturers. It does not and the likes of BMW and Mercedes have had just as many problems. (We had a C class that was off the road for months because of recurring injector problems).
