2007 differences

Great post

Have just done my 2007.

Few comments to add

No cutting of wings required - just change the brackets - can do this with out removing wings

You will need to run a +ve to the headlights and use relays to control the indicators and sidelight - interfaces available on fleabay

Buy the genuine washer hose set just £7

Washer pump is fine on the 2007 model

Use the genuine harness for PDC and splice into car loom

Overall ...... Very easy - took an afternoon to do

Your welcome, glad my instructions helped.

Your correct on the later facelift (06/07 onwards) you don't need to cut the wings as land rover modified them to fit the 07 style headlights

Looking forward to seeing a photo!

Matt

Matt
What was the cost of all the parts in the end Question
Unbelievable looking, still struggling to comprehend it took an afternoon for a result like that, as Alanm3 said why fork out for a newer 201 model.[/code] Porsche 993 Targa, Buick Skylark Convertable 1968

To be honest I can't remember the exact costs but I am a perfectionist (as you can tell) and didn't want any sratches or marks on the new parts so I purchased all the parts brand new from Land Rover. Each headlight was around £700-800, rear lights were £170 each, grill/vents were about £300, wiring looms, new washer tank system, brackets, interface units came to about another £400-500 so all in all was around the £3000 mark. Still looks amazing and turns heads everywhere I go even almost a year later. People think it is brand new and have no idea and can't belive that its 12 years old and has just broken the 100,000 miles mark.

P.S just as an update for members that follow and enjoy my upgrades and enhancements, I have finally completed the move into my new house after 12 months of renovations and building work so it's time to work on the car again! Very Happy Very Happy

The in car PC project that started a few years ago to replicate the 2010-2013 entertainment system has taken some interesting steps and I have made some very good progess. Without going into to much detail on this thread I am in the process of completely rewriting the software (rather than using a third party software with a custom skin as was the previous version but had some fundamental and crucial limitations) the software will be custom built to support 2002-2005 (pre facelift) range rovers and will provide a near exact replica of the latest entertainment system software, it will allow connection and control of all the range rovers factory audio systems and anything else that I can get it to tap into over the cars networks.

For those interested in completing the full 2012 facelift look complete with entertainment system.....watch this space!

I didn't really take any photos of the rear conversion as it is really simple but here goes from memory:

I used the interface boxes you can purchase from eBay to allow the new 2010 style lights to work correctly.

1 remove 2 bolts holding old lights in from tailgate area.
2 carefully slide old lights out and disconnect
3 use a small drill to remove the spot welds for the old brackets that hold the lights in.
4 remove the old brackets.
5 offer up the new lights and mark where you need to drill the new grommet holes in the bodywork.
6 fit the new grommets and connect the wiring connector to the nights and secure with the bolts removed earlier.
7 follow the instructions that come with the interface boxes to cut and splice them into the rear light wiring loom, make sure you solder and heat shrink any exposed connections.
8 switch lights on and test all features work.
9 sit back and admire your handy work! Cool

Awesome guide Matt and convinced me to facelift rather than upgrade at a huge cost (the FF i mean, not the missus)

Just wish you was my neighbour Whistle
