What about a base model Discovery 4? Has all the attributes you'd expect but not a lot of frills. Price is about right or maybe even under. Graham

so even as it started to become more mainstream luxury, if you see what I mean, the classic was still a bit pricey. I seem to remember an xr4x4 Sierra was between £12k and £13k at the time.....

I think a current purchase price new of £55K would be fair. Clearly a 405 is way off now even if we only compared on price. |

OK. I think nearest is a late Discovery. Some of the 4x4 double cab pickups are close too. Maybe the replacement for Defender will provide a better answer.

Discovery probably closest in ethos to the RRC... there's a late model basic GS with cloth seats in green that I see about that makes me somewhat mindful of a RRC! |
