How about the Renault Clio 172 Cup. un molested and thrashed? The V6 is staying steady as well but such limited numbers will always cause that.

Another that has me thinking and bear with me on this...

Try and find any of the last ones for sale in good nick and you'll be lucky!

I'd like any W124 Mercedes - considered by many more knowledgeable than me as the last properly engineered Mercedes

W124 Mercedes - Not a bad engine choice either:

This is the spec's for my T'bird's engine, not bad for a 1966 car with normal ignition, a carburetor and no computers, and at 6.4 litre it doesn't say much for progress

I was a huge fan of the Group B rally era - there was nothing like the sound of a Quattro or 6R4 charging through a forest in the dead of night.

Posts like these do worry me.

When people start "investing" in cars, the market is usually close to the peak. This time, the market is being distorted by zero interest rates - you earn nothing in the bank so you might as well put it somewhere else. Billions has flowed into classic cars and billions more have followed that as the prices have gone up as it seems like a safe bet.

However, when interest rates go up again (and they will) then the prices will fall (perhaps from a much higher level).

So buy something that you love, not something that you think will go up in price. Ask yourself if you would be happy owning it if it lost half the money you put into it AND needed restoration work to keep it running. If the answer is yes, then go for it.
