United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Bonatti Grey

Grale is already a classic...

How about the Renault Clio 172 Cup. un molested and thrashed? The V6 is staying steady as well but such limited numbers will always cause that.

Another that has me thinking and bear with me on this...

A Citroen C2 GT, and a Renault 19 16v Chamade phase 1.

Try and find any of the last ones for sale in good nick and you'll be lucky!

GT's are holding value well, i should know as i sold the cheapest one in the country recently and my arm was bitten off with it despite having issues! Limited run and not many living in good nick that havent been barryed or thrashed to death. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
Mantec Sump Guard, Rigid Load liner, MY10 BT upgrade.

Is 2004+ not a tad too recent to be a classic?

I'd like any W124 Mercedes - considered by many more knowledgeable than me as the last properly engineered Mercedes

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

W124 Mercedes - Not a bad engine choice either:

The E50 AMG M119.985 produced 352 PS (259 kW; 347 hp) @ 5,550 rpm and 481 N·m (355 lb·ft) @ 3,200 rpm.

This is the spec's for my T'bird's engine, not bad for a 1966 car with normal ignition, a carburetor and no computers, and at 6.4 litre it doesn't say much for progress Thumbs Up

Series Is have already gone through the roof, so now is the time to buy a good S2/S2A while they are still reasonable.

Mine is not a show car by any means but I could not one with a longish MoT for what I paid just 5 years ago. 1970 S2A 88", http://www.mac4x4.co.uk/2007lro.html

Miggit, really not bad for 1966. Thumbs Up

Come to think of it, 330bhp isn't bad for 2014.

Mine is a 351 4-barrel Cleveland with 285bhp. But she's getting a few mild tweaks soon... Wink

Agree that prices of the LR Series 1 are rising enthusiastically. It's pushing S2 prices up and S3 prices appear to be rising a little, too. Si. <This is my name.

I think there are a few more to add to the list...

Audi Quattro (not up enough on the variants) - was always what I dreamed of when I had my Opel Manta in the 80's
Lancia Delta Integrale
Mark 1 (and also now 2) Golf GTI - finding one that hasn't been ruined is the challenge
W124 Merc coupes and convertibles (the estate is also much prized, and still a great workhorse)

I was a huge fan of the Group B rally era - there was nothing like the sound of a Quattro or 6R4 charging through a forest in the dead of night. Thumbs Up

Mentioned W124... rest only not included as sense the ship has already sailed in terms of value increase, perhaps excepting special edition Quattros which may have £10k climb left in them! Thumbs Up

Posts like these do worry me.

When people start "investing" in cars, the market is usually close to the peak. This time, the market is being distorted by zero interest rates - you earn nothing in the bank so you might as well put it somewhere else. Billions has flowed into classic cars and billions more have followed that as the prices have gone up as it seems like a safe bet.

However, when interest rates go up again (and they will) then the prices will fall (perhaps from a much higher level).

So buy something that you love, not something that you think will go up in price. Ask yourself if you would be happy owning it if it lost half the money you put into it AND needed restoration work to keep it running. If the answer is yes, then go for it.
