Yes, and a coil went on it a week later and cost him £1500.

Too expensive for a 12 year old CL600. The bodywork on them rots faster than Usain Bolt can run 100 metres and spare parts are 4 times the price of FFRR parts.

But he could have got that fixed for much less, though... I know an excellent specialist who looks after my E55. Anyway, Mick, that's very near me. Let me know if you need help should it take your fancy. Yes, top money, but a rare one. It needs checked out to see if it's as good as it looks. Si. <This is my name. I eat rat poison. I would spend a little more and get a later one with much better corrosion protection and a turbo V12. |

like one of these, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mercedes-CL55-AM...291wt_1190 yes its not warranted, but its 'mondeo money' -there are penty of sad wallet busting stories of all types of cars, but its a beauty. and you only live once. -it's better to have loved and lost, than never had a bluddy nice motor! -- if only to use it as a front garden ornament! i bet he would take £5000 for it! |

I thought the facelift ones had aluminium and fibre glass body parts? |

^ Nope just rusty steel. My mate has a body repair shop and the number of rusty CL Mercs he has in for repair are unbelievable, front wings, wheel arches reap pillar where it meets the rear wing, bottom of doors. Sad really as they are a fantastic car when sorted, but finding a good one can take a while |

He must have had lots of pre-facelift CLs then. Wings on later models are made of plastic and boot lid is fibre glass. Not sure about the doors as I've seen corrosion on lower parts as you say and at the rear pillar/wing section (the weld). Agreed, they are very nice cars! |
