Sal

Noticed that you're only down the road from me in Preston.

I would suggest contacting Independent Land Rover Services 01772 555634 unless of course you have your own trusted Indie.

Thumbs Up

Yes I would say you are looking 4-5 hrs

You know with the FF every garage bill is going to be £500+ mark with parts - even if it is just changing a washer. Howard

5 hours Shocked (he says reviewing how long it took him to do it himself - @ 3 days Laughing ) - I like to call it methodical Wink

Best to get them done, they may "look OK" with a bit of surface rust, but they can be as brittle as anything, I was shocked at how easily some of the pipe I thought was OK fell to pieces once I had removed it from the car. .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

I sometimes wonder why we can't get the stainless steel braided lines you can buy for motorbikes. That stuff is much better, you can buy it on the roll (I did for my streetfighter conversion project) with the loose fittings, cut lines to length and install. Or the same outfits that sell the sets for motorbikes could do them for cars with the crimped connections.

Those kits do exist but only for a few models (boy racers) and only to replace the rubber hoses by the looks) What I meant is a full replacement by stainless braided lines.

Anyway, just a thought as many of them race around in my cluttered mind and lot of them NSFW Smile Smile Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Just coat your all brake pipes with grease and you won't need to replace them. Thumbs Up

going to have a look at it today, see how bad they really are, might get them to change it to a advisory.

Just to clarify, I don't advocate covering corroded brake pipes in grease, if they are corroded they need to be replaced.
What I meant was if your steel brake pipes are still in good condition with the paint / lacquer intact it's a good idea to coat them with grease to stop any risk of corrosion in the future. Generally this only needs to be done once with the exception of the exposed pipes adjacent to each of the wheels which I tend to clean-up and re-coat every year.

Hi, no i dint take it in that way, i need more time to change them as i will be changing them, and they have offered for

So yes everyone i will be changing them stopping over 2 tonnes at 20mph on a school run with a burst pipe i

won't entertain.

thanks again to all of you for your input.

LOVE THY FFRR.

Hi Sal,
I think these things get us all in the end!

I had mine done just before I sold it, no doubt will have to get new one done soon.

Can't tell you how much it cost as I gave receipt to new owner but I do remember paying about £2k for them to do it all but that included:
New Alternator
New Rear suspension bushes top and bottom
Service
MOT
and of course new brake pipes.

Just another bump in the road of Range Rover ownership Very Happy Geoff

Basic arithmetic seems to suggest they are charging £124/ hour for labour - £700-£80 = £620/5 = £124/hour. I would suggest that any decent indy would charge less than half that - try K Motors in Leyland (they did mine) or a more convenient indy to you, after all it is a pretty standard job. Geoff
