I sometimes wonder why we can't get the stainless steel braided lines you can buy for motorbikes. That stuff is much better, you can buy it on the roll (I did for my streetfighter conversion project) with the loose fittings, cut lines to length and install. Or the same outfits that sell the sets for motorbikes could do them for cars with the crimped connections.

Just coat your all brake pipes with grease and you won't need to replace them. |

Just to clarify, I don't advocate covering corroded brake pipes in grease, if they are corroded they need to be replaced.

Basic arithmetic seems to suggest they are charging £124/ hour for labour - £700-£80 = £620/5 = £124/hour. I would suggest that any decent indy would charge less than half that - try K Motors in Leyland (they did mine) or a more convenient indy to you, after all it is a pretty standard job. Geoff |
