OK after a few request i have found some one who will cut keys and guarantee they work, i popped over there to have a couple of vw keys cut for my daughters new car, now this man as crazy as it sounds can cut your key from a photo and post it to you .i do remember someone talking about using this service but never forwarded any info..he also has spare blanks for the flip keys,

@Daveo, that's great news. I take it I can either send a photo, or my old key with the guts ripped out and get him to cut my two mail order? Do I need to mention this forum/you?

i would imaging you have the BMW 3 button style key, it is a style thing, the new key is much nicer in the hand and the pocket,no more poking in your leg but it still does the same as your key
