The mot Inspection Manual states that a headlight wash / wipe system "may" be fitted and if so it must work.

yes....im thinking along the sames line.....(i never use the system intentionally anyway!) ...but is there a way to blank off where the washer wiper arm protrudes out of the plastic plate (under the headlight) |

Xenon lights have to have a wash system by law, as a dirty lens scatters the light inconsistently and dazzles other drivers.

That piece of plastic can be removed, presumably you could remove each of them and stick a piece of plastic on the rear of each of them. Should do for an mot. If you were really adventurous you could then also fill the holes and paint them. |

If fitted ? I thought they had to be fitted. Which is why they have them.

It was def a requirement at the time, along with self levelling suspension or headlight levelling. If wipers not fitted it should have high pressure washer jets.

Does it not depend on HOW good your mot man is if it fails/passes.....at the end of the day its only a small wiper/washer on the headlight If it dont work.......burn it!
