FYI those bolts are only done up to 84 ft/lbs (if my memory isn't failing me, be gentle) , which is alot less that the wheel nuts at 103 ft/lbs, and mine showed no signs of stud lock. I did have to yank the bar to break them free, but int wasn't more than an 1/8 of a turn before they gave the good old crank and let go.
Sorry to all of you with acne for the ft/lbs figures, I don't do nums. And do forgive me if the torque figures are a bit out, all I know is the wheels are done up a lot tighter! Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

103lb ft = 140nm

I had a breaker bar but that gave limited movement due to space. I couldn't get to swing on it properly.

Halfrauds do 1 around the same dosh, but if you hunt about you should be able to get 1 for under £20
They are an absolute must for working on a large car, they can make light work out the most stubborn bolts including rusted wheel nuts, and brake calliper bolts.

Did you turn the wheel to move the calliper away from the car? Cos if ya didn't no wonder you was having stress! With the wheel turned it is possible to get over an eighth of a turn on a breaker bar before the wing gets in the way

Well, brakes all done.

Dropped the car off at 10.30 and I phoned up at 17.45 and he said he'd just driven it in to start work. Phoned me at 19.30 to say all done and ready for collection.

He broke a snap on socket getting the caliper to hub bolts out and had to remove one of the disk to hub grub screws with a hammer and chisel.

It's much better now. Brakes much more smooth and progressive.

Probably won't be changed again whilst I have the car. I don't do enough miles or brake hard.
