Deodorising the Air Con.

Unfortunately I am a smoker. I usually switch off the air con when smoking in the car to prevent smells recirculating. Recently though the air con was boing used on a long journey when me and my friend were smoking all the way. Now there is a slight smell when I turn on the air con.

Where is the best place to spray something to freshen up the system? I am not sure how the air is actually circulated. No longer FF owner but still interested. Present car Jaguar XE

The easiest way is to try a can of ac system cleaner from someone like Halfrauds. Comma Air Conditioning Cleaner is what you need.

Simply a case of running the engine with the ac on maximum, set off the canister in the car (with you outside) and let the ac circulate the contents of the can.

Usually works, but then I don't smoke. Smile

My main dealer uses Fortron air conditioning treatment.
It can be bought for about £6.00

Warning...very old thread resurrection coming!!

My question relates to when the AC is switched off....when it the AC is running, the smell is pleasant, but when its switched off the smell is musty?....would these "bombing products" work or is there a filtre i can change?

ps..i dont smoke, fart /burp excessively or have BO.

i bombed mine paul cos there was a smell when the ac was off ..its possible that maybe a filter change somewhere will get rid of yours rather than a bomb but it worked for me.... ... - .- -.

I can confirm that the air con treatment worked to remove the musty smell.

Gents...apart from the Pollen Filter (located under the bonnet just in front /centre of the windscreen) are there any other cabin air filters?

Workshop Manual is 3000+ pages and cant see anything else myself.

My recently acquired L322 had a very slightly damp/musty smell with the a/c switched off. I did an oil service and also changed the pollen filter. So far I have not had the smell come back.
