The easiest way is to try a can of ac system cleaner from someone like Halfrauds. Comma Air Conditioning Cleaner is what you need.

i bombed mine paul cos there was a smell when the ac was off ..its possible that maybe a filter change somewhere will get rid of yours rather than a bomb but it worked for me.... ... - .- -.

I can confirm that the air con treatment worked to remove the musty smell. |

Gents...apart from the Pollen Filter (located under the bonnet just in front /centre of the windscreen) are there any other cabin air filters?

My recently acquired L322 had a very slightly damp/musty smell with the a/c switched off. I did an oil service and also changed the pollen filter. So far I have not had the smell come back.
