Hopefully not a broken manifold stud.

You should hear it when revving the car at idle

Just go the bongs on the a29 in france, suspect it is probably the turbo hoses.......

Bong....engine system fault......no power, like there is no boost, Pull over, off on again, ok for 20 mins......bong!

Ok then for 3 hours and made it to Calais, bit of black smoke on kick down and going up hills with the tin tent on the back, but otherwise sat at 60 all the way..

Hopeful it is either the hoses or bad fuel from the carrefour! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Yep!

Had a look last night when I got back to Dover campsite. 2" split under the webbing.... Shocked on right hand hose as you face the car. For info, insulation tape doesn't work particularly well, can't handle much boost, as my first go at a temp repair revealed.

Off to halfords in Folkestone this morning to get http://www.halfords.com/motoring/paints-bo...pe-25mmx3m to affect a temporary repair to get us home without having to stop and reset every 20mins...... Big Cry eventually found you could just put it in neutral and click the gin back one click and on again and it would reset fine (not a great idea but with a ferry to catch better than stopping) There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

The Harris tape works a treat! 3 layers of reinforced tape, so far done 120 miles with normal driving and no bongs!

Worth having some in reserve in the boot just in case if you have a tdv8 which hasnt had the top hoses done. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
