Also, apparently where the m25 meets the m1, there is a permanent smell in the area like , I can't remember where I was before I turned on the ac and got the smell but that's one theory I heard this evening for the awful smell in the cabin...

Drove mine home and hit motorways speeds - whistling noise gone. I'm going to just be happy this is gone and not try to tempt fate by not investigating further. Smell has also gone.

There was a thread where a bearing in the air con unit melts and causes a whistle noise ? Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........ |

New heater box arrived at dealer this morning. It's a whole dash out job (apparently) so we were told not to expect the car back until after the weekend.

when you get it back just put a bit of pressure on different parts of the dash and listen for squeaks they are a to get all the soundproofing right but can be done |

As you predicted, we've now got a nice vibration/buzz from the middle of the dash. |

there are some star shaped screws on top of the dash that do get loose, might be worth tightening those.. ... - .- -.

Me too on my 2011 TDV8. I have 2 problems with the climate control, the whistling noise at speed as described by others and on occasions no air coming through any of the front vents. The whistling noise seems to have something to do with the air recirculation system because switching that off usually cures it. The lack of air can usually be cured by switching the max aircon switch on for a few seconds although recently that sometimes doesn't work.

Well, after a further 4 weeks in the dealer, I was told it had been fixed.

Thought I'd revive this thread to add my two cents. Had my 12MY Vogue for about 3 months now and noticed that the air con whistles at speeds above 87mph/140kph even when the system is off. The whistle continues after switching the air con on until the the next time that it sucks in more air (that occasional short noise you hear that sounds like air being sucked in). After that the whistle is gone.

Yep, mine whistles too when going over about 30 mph. Only way I've found to stop it is to close the driver's side vent adjuster wheel fully.

It's the ram air door and re-circulation that is causing this. I"m not sure exactly why but it could be they are not resetting. Check out the climate control description and operation in the land rover workshop manual. Specifically look at ram air door operation and you'll see the correlation between speeds and how much they are open and closing during specific speeds and this noise 30/60/90 kmh respectively. I don't know how to post the pdf for this or I would. |
