2007 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Java Black
Suspension fault

Some weeks back I hade the Farr jacked up (tailgate down) to sell the wheels around. Almost immediately an eas fault was present. My local indie (reliable) has replaced the air dryer and cleaned up the connections around that part. Compressor seems fine. In the garage the car will lift and drop in double quick time all day long but within 5 mins of driving eas fault and locked in standard height. Bags all seem good. No obvious damage to pipe work from jacking. Any thought? Compressor temp sensor? Eas relay? Really annoying. I've known the car for some years and the eas has been fine. Seems like jacking the car up has disturbed something which whilst in the ramp isn't activated but as soon as we start rolling all goes to rats. Ny thoughts graciously received.

What was the specific fault (found with diagnostics), as opposed to the "bong" fault of "AIR SUSP INACTIVE" ?

Off the top of my head, given the extra articulation of jacking up, possibly a height sensor gone out of kilter? .

Thank you both.. Given the circumstances leading up to the failure, I agree. Its with a local indie who has looked after the car for the last 4 years, and I don't mind that he's replaced the drier. I think though, I'l invest in my own diagnostics, because that way I could reply to your specific question about which code. I live near the Bearmach store (well within 30 mins) would that be a good diag tool, or would you recommend another one?

The continuing saga

OK.... have emailed Dan at DW for a price on the IID tool... also for info.. had a great email dialogue with the guys at GAP.. waiting for a price (Dans on hols I think) and then we'll be GAP'd to the hilt!

Meanwhile - the EAS fault continues Indie visit again - Ive forgotten the codes again but he assured me that they weren't the height detector codes, and he'd checked for dead spots. Last night BING BONG!!!!!!!!

Oh good grief! So.. one thing that did spring to mind was when the wheels were off at the tyre place we notices the Rear O/S brake pad wear indicator dangling loose. The tyre fitter cable tied it "Up" as it were, out of the way. What's the collective wisdom here.. Could this be the source of some of this trouble? Seems a £35 plug and play new part if Im not mistaken?

No, that shouldn't spring a fault. I have my rear one tied up without a problem (having lost the tiny clip on the gravel Evil or Very Mad ). YMMV.

That said, brake faults may generate air susp faults for safety reasons. if there are fault codes as opposed to just one, if it is a brake one, this could be the culprit. .

Both my brake pad wear sensors are broken and not connected, I get a "check brake pads" message on the dash but I don't have a suspension error showing, so don't think the pad sensor alone will do it, they may have pulled out or damaged the ABS wires and that would do it.... Pete
