Ordered from Dan a fortnight ago and fitted - excellent upgrade
Whilst I had the tailgate down I removed the carpet and put lots of lovely Waxoyl inside the tailgate - no rust there - but just to make sure for future
Also when I removed the old tailgate strap it was very very rusty so as mentioned in a previous thread - check and replace asap

Got cheap steel M6 rivnuts from ebay.

Really easy to fit an very secure.

There is already a hole around 1cm diameter ~10 cm away from the bracket installation place, I have only expanded it to 4 cm in diameter

Just did this nice upgrade, ordered the parts from brit-car.co.uk (including the two screws), drilled two 5mm holes and then used a 6mm plug tap for the threads. All OK! The second photo from the first page was very helpful!

Very satisfying, if a little sad according to the family.

Old straps badly corroded, so did the upgrade at same time as replacing the straps. Very easy and used rivnuts as suggested in a previous post. The is an elegant solution and mote satisfying than self tappers. 2014 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography & 2015 3.0SDV6 HSE Lux Discovery 4

have done this upgrade today - what a difference that shock absorber makes - open much better and in line with what one would expect of such a luxury vehicle

2006 4.2 Supercharged, Java Black

I've got an oil burner and a LR main dealer 5.5 miles away, and I reckon that it would workout more expensive, plus I can smurf the web and let the postie do the work

I have been looking in to doing this conversion on my ffrr, but, it would appear that the boat has sailed on reasonably priced parts. The current price from Dan is £63 , no reflection on Dan, I know if it can be had cheaper he'd do it. L/R are taking the urine with thier prices, I can only imagine that they have sold a few more brackets than 2011-2012 ffrr's and have relised that there is a retro fitting frenzy, and have adjusted the prices accordingly

So, not to be done over by the stealers, I have been looking in to making my own bracket and saving best part of £30. The first bit of good news is you don't have to buy a new strap, I took a torques bit to my ffrr today and discovered that the top bolt is a bolt
This means that it can be substituted with a ball stud and a hole made in the rubber cover and you've saved £15 ish BUT, the best priced ball studs have a minimum order and I'd end up with enough for half a dozen plus conversions I've only got one Anyone else interested? £2 + postage for 1 long ball stud for the strap and 1 short for the bracket.

I have also been rummaging in my pals scrap pile, and he has some 2.5mm 3" rolled c section that I think will make a nice bracket, similar to the L/R one, but from his scrap pile, with price adjusted favorably  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!
