Stan.....whats the Haldex for then??....not sure if its true on not but the stealers told me the FF is front wheel drive in normal use (100/0) then when slippage is detected the haldex motor engages the lock clutch to send drive to the rear wheels as well (50/50)....cost me £400 to have a duff haldex swapped last year....have I been told a lie? googled it and its some kind of power transfer when it detects a wheel slip, so if the osf has no traction all the power goes to the other three wheels. ... - .- -.

The Haldex is only on those cars with the active rear diff. It's the bit which does side to side lock up / Variable Limited Slip functions effectively. If you want to know more about Haldex stuff check out any 4WD Volkwagen. The Golf / Passat / Jetta etc all used Haldex units to very good effect. |

Thats Farnell Landrover Leeds for ya.....I had an odd vibration when tight cornering and they stuck on the diagnostic and found the ETM motor had an error. They then said it was locking the rear wheels together (as one axle) so it needed a new ETM motor which they called it "A Haldex Motor"....wasnt covered under the LR extended warranty so I had to lay out for it GONE 2010 Facelifted 3.6 TDV8 - Stornoway Grey + 22" Overfinch Olympus

paulmoran do you definitely know if your car has the locking rear diff? very very unusual for a desiesal to have it fitted.

Suspect it's a rare option - can presumably be identified from the VIN or by sticking your head underneath (it's not difficult to spot the motor on a Discovery diff). |
