Once you have unlocked the car you are waking up all the systems in readiness to drive away. After locking these systems will slowly shut down in sequence taking a total of about 18 minutes until there is no longer a drain on the battery. Discovery 4 HSE

If you want to test how long yours takes to switch off just pop the bonnet and 'fool' the bonnet open/light switch, then plug an ammeter into the battery, switch off and watch the amps slowly decreasing. Shouldn't take more than 20 minutes total.

Also when I had my first L322, and the 2 Sports the dealers have always recommended lowering the suspension to access mode if leaving the car for a while as this also tells the ECU's that you might not be returning for a long time and it puts everything into sleep mode sooner 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes |
