Yes, get your point, but it does take the crud off where previous owners have neglected and the alloys have gone more "gold" in the corners. Perhaps thats just the scrubbing then. Just a way of getting it cleaner at the start of my ownership.

A proper alloy cleaner is prob best, but I do it just the once, and then use AG's silicone resin polish and top up as needed.

I don't tend to let my wheels get too dirty. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Asked SWMBO for some Mr Muscle Oven Cleaner on the weekly shop, and ran a test on one of my front wheels, which suffered from the dreaded black streaking that you can't wash off.

1. Quick rinse over with water to remove any surface dirt
2. (Using correct PPE) sprayed foam onto affected area of wheel
3. Walked away for 15 minutes (but you could leave for 30 minutes)
4. Light (and I mean light) scrubbing with a wheel brush.
5. All black streaking gone, and no apparent side effects

SWMBO was also impressed

- now I have to clean the oven

I'm going to have to try this little trick with Mr M. If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

I would assume that if you have damaged alloys it may be a bit to risky? or try masking those areas off?

@neo - If you're thinking that any surface breaks or imperfection might allow the Mr M to go to work underneath and blister the surface from the inside out, then I supposed you could try and protect such areas... unless you're planning on a formal alloy/ cosmetic refurb soon and you could try not protecting as an experiment!

Not sure the answer to that in truth but I've been using it on cars from time to time for a number of years and have never had a problem, although the alloys haven't had pre existing damage. I do use a slow cold water tap setting on the hose gun to carefully wash the Mr M off though, as opposed to the spray settings.

Remember all Mr M is doing is removing dirt, it won't make it shiny unless it is already shiny underneath all the dirt! .

Mr Muscle Test

In between times while doing my brakes, I have set to cleaning my wheels with Mr Muscle. The outsides of my wheels are in pretty good nick but with a few brake dust streaks, the insides have probably never been cleaned since new.

A quick before and after shot:

All four inners were given a good dosing of Mr Muscle and allowed to work for 30 minutes. I then took a wheel brush and a scrubbing brush to them, but found this wasn't working, so used a well-used green scouring pad which started to shift the stubborn stuff. The inners were covered with a thick slightly greasy deposit, so I wore gloves. All four wheels needed a second application of Mr Muscles on the tough bits and further scrubbing and scouring. The outers were easy in comparison. A final wash off and polish and a pretty good result. Unfortunately, I have now become wheel anal, and will have to persist with this approach on a regular basis

If I am honest, there appears to be no substitute for good old elbow grease. Mr Muscle does help to break down the caked on dirt and muck, but it still requires a fair amount of mechanical action.

Have to see how well it fares next time round - should be a breeze! .
