Like this one?

Needs ear protectors!

On googling it appears it is OK for small jobs, but for prolonged use a bigger tank would be needed otherwise pump running all the time.

Personally for just changing wheels, probably not worth it, but for a one off spray job may be a budget solution. .

I use a similar unit just for blowing my tyres up......

It came with other accessories, that I don't really use.

I also use it to blow the dust out my dyson vacuum when I'm emptying it.

Not an expert here, but the air impact tools are pretty expensive and can cost more than the compressor.

That said, if you are doing lots of work and wheel swaps, it'll do fine.

I'm after a compressor to top up the tyres on my horse lorry - would the Aldi one be any good. Got to inflate tyres to 94psi but it's normally just a top up not inflate from flat. Be easier to do this at the yard rather than drive 4 miles to nearest hgv air pump.

The max working pressure of my Wolf one is 116psi, so I would imagine the aldi one is similar, as the other specs are not a million miles off.

Do aldi show the specs online ? 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Just looked myself, can't find it either.......

The first post says it's 7.4 cfm which is same as my Wolf, so it should be fine for 94 psi I'd imagine..... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

They are ok for light work, don't expect them to run air tools for long as they don't produce enough air and you have to wait on the small tank filling up every couple of minutes, they produce a lot of moisture in the pipework as the motor is working all the time. As for blowing truck tyres up to 90psi...it won't happen

I have 3 compressors, the 240v one is twice the size of the Aldi one and it is just about powerful enough for occasional use, but louder than a jumbo jet at take off so not used vey often. I bought a 1968 Ingersoll Rand 3 phase which is whisper quiet and can be used at midnight without disturbing neighbours, but it is slow to build up pressure. Then there is 'The Beast' which is a Hydrovane Rotary Vane 23CFM 3 phase which is powerful enough that it doesn't require a tank, switch it on and the pressure is up to 126psi in about 3 seconds, will run air wrenches, needle scalers, blasting cabinets, the lot. Not as quiet as the Ingersoll Rand but quiet enough to use in the garage and still hear myself think. The only downside of the Hydrovane is it is over 3 feet long and needs 3 people to move it, but an awesome bit of kit

If you are planning on buying a compressor then there are a few things you should take into consideration.
The body and pistons of modern equipment are alloy, they don't last, they are noisy and they are crap

The electric motors on modern equipment runs at around 2800rpm making them very loud and also they last as long as ice cubes in a hot oven.

Best try and source an old cast iron compressor with a slow running motor (1400rpm) which will last a lifetime if looked after and will be about 60% quieter than a modern equivalent

I stoop corrected then.

I only use mine to do the tyres, so it's fine.

Sometimes if you use one in the cigarette lighter and don't start the car the battery can get low if you have lots of air to pump.

I don't like starting the car and not moving it anywhere, so went the 240v compressor route. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

I'm pleased with mine. Didn't take too much effort to put together.

They have it where I got mine from for £99.99 with a 13 piece accessory kit, but shipping may be extra.

http://www.ukhs.tv/Workshop/Air-Compressor...pray-Kit_2

Depends what accessories you want.

I remember now I got the 5 piece kit free with it and a free nail gun. Turned the decision into a no brainer in the end...... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

£109.97 including shipping , doesn't seem to bad Thumbs Up

Only want for pumping up tyres and maybe spraying the fence , bought one of the electric ones when I had a flat tyre but because most of them come with screw on connections and the corrosion on these horrid TPMS valves was unable to screw on the connecter and ended up getting the RAC out just to pump up a tyre Evil or Very Mad

Oh and you saying about cleaning your dyson , there is another use I would have for it Smile

Have decided the next time I get any tyres changed the TPMS valves are coming out and basic rubber ones going in as the TPMS is switched off Thumbs Up

Apologies if I have gone off topic

Dave

Halfords do a professional range of socket sets which have a lifetime guarantee. Until the end on Monday, 2 are on offer at better than half price ;

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/...yId_255215

The above link is for the bigger of the 2.....,

And a quick edit, if you don't have a decent battery charger, have a look for a CTEK charger. More info if you do a search.

A decent trolley jack is also handy, big enough for the rangie. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8
