The odometer isn't a testable item for the MOT so your car can't be failed for that reason.

one of my mot,s prior to my owner ship has no milage readout obviously when the pixels had gone, still got a pass cert thou

I did mine myself. £20 for the bits from eBay. The hardest part was removing the wooden trim pieces from the end of the dashboard. Changing the contact strip is easy enough, I used nail polish remover to clean the contacts.
