Well worth a read! Anyone ever done something similar? I'll be deleting the EGR on my L322 when I pick it up and figured doing this would be easier than taking the inlet manifold off to clean it all up. I don't think there's any chance of hydrolocking the engine as Mr. Muscle's crazy foamy - it's not like I'm pouring Coca-Cola down the inlet manifold.

I read about this recently as I was getting a "police siren" type sound coming from my turbo, due to the VNT vanes sticking.
After a couple of garages suggesting I had to have a new turbo (mucha £££'s), I decided to give it ago, now not suggesting that I have had an instant transformation, but the sound is a lot more subdued.(I only carried it out yesterday)
It was either strip down the turbo and decoke or use Mr Muscle, so chose the easier route.

If I could have got to actuator on the side of the turbo to "work it", this may have freed up the mechanism more.

Am I missing something here?
Surely if you remove the EGR Valve on a TD6 and inject Mr Muscle into the inlet manifold the Mr Muscle will loosen / disolve all the carbon and oil crap in the inlet manifold which when you start the engine will then be drawn thro the engine cylinders and out thro the exhaust manifold and exhaust.
It may well clean the turbo on the way thro (possibly) but what about all the detritus going thro the engine?
Would you not have to remove the inlet manifold first, before injecting Mr Muscle, and clean it out manually thereby removing any risk of damage?

It's done on the exhaust side, not inlet. As mentioned the crud would end up in the cylinders, not good.

The EGR bye-pass pipe is a possibility but you would either have to have the EGR blanked off or disconnect the vacuum hose so the valve was hopefully fully closed. If not you still have a distinct possibility of passing a quantity of Mr Muscle thro the engine.
Personally I wouldn't risk it and would go for the alternative additive solution.
Hopefully I never have to do either.
