As the cold weather started I noticed the park heater would come on when the car was unlocked or if the door opened etc. During the summer this didn't come on at all! My question is does it do anything? Mine makes a roaring noise for a bit then turns off! I don't seem to have any heat from it in the cabin? Now we're getting the frosty mornings I'm waiting for the heated screen to clear the ice! Wasnt the webasto heater supposed to do this? If not what does it acctually do? Only it would be nice if mine working properly, only I have no clue what it does!

Mine comes on if I open a door or lock/unlock all through the year ... come rain or shine!

But I think that is just a pre-warming for the engine although I may be wrong. You need to activate the remote/times heating feature for the car internals to warm up. African Bush Junkie ... in London!

If the combustion fan operates when the car is unlocked or door opened (or bonnet) then the PCB is damaged

Mines the same - operates as above but FBH faults out and has yet to run properly - just waiting for some time off and good weather so I can do the PCB repair.

If operating correctly, after a 30 min cycle you should have a pre-heated engine and cabin.

I don't notice any cabin heat so I presume something's wrong! It's defo not on for 30mins. Max of 5 mins then turns off! If engine doesn't start it turns on after unlocking or door opening then turns off after 1 min or so? 2004 range rover vogue

As above - the behavior you are getting is typical of a PCB failure, same as mine

Yes its part of the heater, easy to access and reasonably easy to repair (or there is a guy in France that will do it for you)

Easier yes but cheaper to fix existing one - pennies for the resistors or £45 for French Mike to do it for you

pretty sure you need to link the 2 water pipes with a piece of 22mm copper pipe and jubilee clips otherwise you may loose your coolant. Oh and blank the fuel pipe just incase
