EGR gunk

Shocked decided to have a look at my egr valve today!
Is this excessive for a 04 FF 94k on the clock?
Have it all cleaned up but decided now to blank it off, just waiting on the kit to be delivered Thumbs Up
Do i have to clean out the manifold? undone all the bolts but its not moving Question didnt want to force it in case something snapped lol

Blimey that’s a fair bit of carbon build up...........i didn’t clean the manifold when i did mine but didn’t have quite the same build up as yours. I did clean the entry hole into the manifold being careful not to let any bits drop inside.

On mine i did a full clean of the standard egr and disconnected the vacuum hose and blocked the hose and the hose nipple with a small self tapping screw which works fine.

The egr blanking replacement will be as good if not slightly better as it has no vacuum valve inside............enjoy the upgrade

Wow - that is a bad one. I would run some fuel cleaner through the tank for a few fill - ups. I would also use Shell V power for a while (if you can get that in Ireland)

Here's mine after circa 120k miles - 2003. No idea if it's original or been cleaned, but not during the 50k miles of my ownership.

It's been replaced with a blanking kit giving a 13% improvement in fuel consumption.
