It all becomes personal choice methinks I have free 1st class flights anywhere in the world a share in an aircraft yet unless an emergency if I was heading to Europe would drive - main reason because I enjoy it so its horses for courses and no rights or wrongs but do like the idea of a pegasus ff |

Assuming Birmingham is the best average set off point as its in the middle of the UK then driving the Range Rover to Memmingen Airport area in Eastern Bavaria is 1258 Kilometres and 12 hours driving without stops. Therefore to be fair its a two day trip involving a ferry or Eurotunnel and a stop over in a hotel somewhere. Its then another two day 1258 Kilometre trip back so four days out of any short break.....

the biggest advantage of driving is that you can bring anything and everything you 'might' need for the days you are away, and in my wifes case [no pun intended] loads of clothes and shoes etc....and there's the duty free booze and ultimately the drive is an adventure .... ... - .- -.

Exactly my point if you need to travel but don't, have time to drive its so easy and cheap and you normally get a brand new hire car to boot. |
