Rough idle / misfire

Hi,

New member, first post

purchasing an L322 TD6 Vogue but the previous owner (thankfully) has been honest and stated there is an issue whereby at approx 1800rpm the car gives a slight shake, hot or cold but this passes as soon as you go past this part of the rev range. When you come back down again it happens again.

Also in reverse car running rougher than normal - he's been told it's due to the car using low range box but I'm clueless.

Worried it could be symptomatic of a much larger issue and/or big repair bills.

Is there any advice somebody can give to enable me to make a better diagnosis (as best as possible in this situation)?

Thanks all!

Not paid for it yet - but aside from this issue and the fact I need to get any service history (earlier than the last 2 years) from a dealer, it's probably one I like the most Smile

Plenty out there don't buy one with a known un-diagnosed fault.

One with a fault will blow your budget anyway.

I've driven both and the V8 is much nicer, but I couldn't justify spending so much on fuel. Depends on the mileage you're doing and your appetite for petrol coupons. My TD6 does 27-28mpg on the motorway, the V8 probably 8-10mpg less than that.

There's really a 10mpg difference betwen the TD6 and V8 even on a motorway??

I've been looking at real-world MPG and coming from Japanese performance cars it's really not all that different. However, 2 kids etc etc means I need to think sensibly :-/

on the motorway you will get more mpg...i averaged 23 mpg in my s/c on a mostly motorway trip recently so you could expect high teens / 20 mpg if you drive sensibly... ... - .- -.

Perhaps someone with the V8 can chip in, this was my understanding, I've never run one. I had one as a loner for a day.

Also, the V8 seems quite reliable but when they go seem very expensive to repair.

High teens / 20mpg is 8-10mpg less than my TD6 - which is what I stated Stan!

If I can only get 22'ish MPG when on a motorway that's scary stuff!

I'll give the v8 a miss if that's the case - it'll bankrupt me in a month or two at that rate!!
