*UPDATE*
Finally got round to going to see the key cutter to solve my key issue. The Censored Censored blamed everything he could think of from Censored quality chinese metal, milled or cast to the aerial that reads the signal from the transponder and declined helping me any further. Totally refused to accept that his cut was wrong as his machine would have done it right blah blah blah. It was like talking to a lump of pseudo educated chewing gum regurgitating utter tripe to try confuse me and make me go away, what a waste of cash & time this urchin turned out to be.

Note to anybody buying a key here, choose your cutter wisely, even if you have to drive a good distance as it can make all the difference Big Cry

Yep just the key cut.........isnt right somewhere.

I got it synced, it memorised all my seat settings, radio stations etc etc. Worked in the door lock but would never turn the ignition 1 bit, tried everything but it was solid.

The key cutter was adamant that the amount of tumblers in the door lock and the ignition are the same (10 I think he was stating) so he blamed the distance between the transponder chip and the aerial that reads it, 1/8th of an inch is all it takes apparantly so I told him I placed the transponder right on top of the ignition and it still wouldnt turn. He then said my original land rover key should not turn at all let alone to postion 1 if no transponder chip is in it.......

Gave up talking to the chump at this point Yawn

United Kingdom 2003 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Adriatic Blue

Hi Daveo,

I am a newbie to the site and have found it really interesting and of great help.
I have just added the paddle shift to my 03 Vogue and now need to address my key issue.

As mentioned I have a 2003 Vogue td6 and would like to purchase 2 flip keys from you.

Unfortunately I dont have an original Landrover key (3 button) programmed to the car as it only had a bmw key with it. the previous owner purchased a replacement 3 button key from the stealer (at great cost) and has only programmed it to open and close the doors. Therefore I would like 2 of your keys to do everything.

I am in the midlands but willing to come down to you if you are able to do this for me. Of course I will pay you for your time as well. (The girlfriend wants me to take her to London anyway).

I understand I have to wait for there to be enough interest in the keys for you to order so I can wait until its a good time for you also.

I do hope you can help me on this as I am constantly carrying the 2 keys around with me to use the car.

Many thanks

Dave Thumbs Up

@Mustard. Awful news for you. Sorry to hear it.

I remember that the pics looked like the cut was 'too far' up. Is it worth trying to file the bottom of the key so the distances line up?

I know it's a risk but as the key seems borked anyhow, you've not a lot to lose?

Hi daveo

Only the BMW key will initially start the car but if I stop it and swap keys, then the landrover key will start it.

Hope that makes sense

Regards

Dave

Then you only have one working transponder chip,, Exclamation dont swap the key if you start with the bmw as when the code rolls on the ignition and if the working chip does not receive it bothe keys will not work.
as it stands you can use the chip in the bmw key and make one new flip key, if you want two keys then you would need a new transponder chip and then i would need your ews unit to programe one to your car. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Thanks Daveo

Thats why i should come to you (if thats ok) with the car. The bmw key is a sealed key and opening would destroy it, then i think i would be left motionless.

Is the ews unit in the car?

I have spoken to landrover and they have said they can program my key for £70. I think if I get that done first, it should give me a back up.

This is the key Daveo.

As you can see opening it would destroy it.

hi I can see to keys in the picture, the 1 at the bottom left is the original key for your car, I take it this 1 does not work. on the other key with the bmw logo is this just a key that starts the car and I am right in saying you use the other key to open the doors, V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Hi

The previous owner purchased the land rover key from main dealer (I have the receipt) as he only had the BMW key when he bought the car. He purchased it from a high profile aristocrat who refused to give anything with the car. At the time he bought the key (210+ vat) he didnt get it programmed to the car, so in answer to your question, I use the land rover key to open the doors and the BMW key to start and drive.

hi,
i dont think you can use the chip from the bmw key as its embedded, so if the chip in the range rover key was not programmed, it should of been and i would give them a call and say its not working....you will need two chips plus two keys.. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.
