Nice set of photos, Kurt & Co. Thanks. Very Happy

Love the Constellation, too. It's a great looking plane. I haven't heard the engine, but they had such a reputation for reliability (not), that many pilots referred to the Connie as, "The best damn trimotor in the air." Shocked

I didn't Stan. That's brilliant.

Funny how almost every aircraft is an A320 or a 737.

Seriously, good photos and some great planes, love the Constellation as well, and the Antonov is brilliant, like a city with wings! .

Last of the VC-10's retired today. Amazing to think they entered service with the RAF the same year England last won the world cup and the year of my birth.

Here's Marlene advertising them. Lovely lines don't you think?

Yes, always one of my favorite aircraft, and those Rolls Royce Conway's were the first turbofans to enter service.

Shame it never sold like the 707.

Dubai Airshow

Emirates orders 150 Boeing 777X's. Shocked

Plus another 50 A380's. Shocked

They've already ordered 90 A380's. Shocked

Have you noticed that when you search for a flight these days it almost always goes via Dubai, even if you're flying London to Liverpool. Rolling Eyes

Emirates generally sells the aircraft on when they're still quite new and I wonder if there'll be a big glut of very large aircraft on the market in 10 years time.

Alternatively maybe the explosion in air traffic will continue. I remember when the A320 was proposed and they wondered if they'd ever make break even which was 700 aircraft. They now have combined orders and deliveries of 10,000 and are churning them out at nearly 600 a year!

The only reason they didn't order more A380's before was airport capacity. They're massively increasing capacity now for even more growth.

Quite a shopping list. Thumbs Up for the A380! I like cool airplanes, and without Concorde, it's probably the most impressive of what's left. I can't believe 90! I didn't think ANY airline was big enough to need that number. Shocked

Not so pleased about the Boeing deal. Evil or Very Mad After their latest attack on their workers, I wasn't wishing them well. However, this isn't the place for a rant.

Passanger traffic thru emirates as an airline is just getting bigger and bigger every year and other airlines are struggling to understand how and it scares a lot of them! Also dont forget how much capital they have as well compared to others that are still debt laden to a certain extent and struggling to get the books to balance over the last few years and facing a fair amount of forced redundancies and big restructures.

Also dont forget the experience, they are a very good airline to fly with. I know people who fly them often and find them cheaper than other airlines by a good shot and still have a very high quality.

I see at least one of their A380's everyday at the minute and they are lovely machines that look to have some kind of anti gravity device working while they come in for landing or go through the take off motions! Only thing that was better was the A225 that visited in the summer but its engines sure woke you up Very Happy FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I saw that. It did manage to take off again though. Can't wait to read the explanation. Smile
