Plugs into accessory plug that comes as standard on the c trek chargers

Good piece of kit Looking right now for the FFRR ultimate upgrade

Is it the same connection as an optimate?
If so where can I get one?

I made one up (just for the hell of it) with croc clips at the end, mated with a Ctek MXS7. Works a treat.

Still trying to figure out a good location to store it "outside the car", easily accessible in the event of a flat battery away from home.... .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember

Just realised I bought one of the Lidl chargers for my Caterham last winter - I wonder if that is compatible with one of Martin's adaptors . . . . ?

 Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

I've got a couple of the Lidl chargers as well but they are unfortunately not compatible with Martins adapters.
No reason why you couldn't buy a 12S plug and make your own adapter up though.

Correction, there is a way to do it if you are prepared to cut the battery terminal clips off the Lidl charger.

ie cut the battery terminal clips off the Lidl charger, purchase one of the Ctek leads below, cut off the cigar socket, join the cut cables on the charger to the cut cables on the Ctek lead.
You then have a lead from the Lidl charger with a male Ctek plug which will then connect into the female Ctek socket on Martins adapter.
You could connect the cables together a number of ways.
You could even buy another Ctek cable with battery clips on so that you could also connect your Lidl battery charger to the battery terminals as original.

The instruction manual states it is suitable for batteries upto 120Ah.
It gives out 3.8A at 14.7V which is adequate for the 110Ah battery in the FFRR, it just takes a bit longer to fully charge.
Good chargers, never had any bother with them.

So in the event that you find yourself locked out and unable to open the vehicle (flat battery) is it possible to connect up a battery to the tow bar socket and open the vehicle.?

I ask this as I cannot leave the battery on charge using the socket due to the vehicle being parked outside.

Just a thought as you would then have access to the vehicle etc. etc.

Yes - you can wire up a battery to the tow socket & then open the doors.

Obviously, the cabling is too thin to try starting the car, but at least it will let you unlock the cat to open the bonnet.

The Lidl charger would require a connector of some sort adding to the leads as they have only ring terminals on the end which go straight to the croc clips.

Or if you don't need CTEK compatibility (I do the adapter with other connectors) then perhaps use these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190908532647 which are the older style Optimate connector. Cut the Lidl charger's lead about 20cm back from the croc clips and you then have a charger you can use with Optimate accessories.

I've actually got a couple of pairs of these connectors if necessary

Hi Martin and can I make a suggestion.

Have you made up any of your plugs using Anderson 30 amp Power Poles.

These are very small ( as compared to 50 amp Anderson plugs ) but could be used to mate with any non standard chargers. 2007 TDV8 Lux

The issue would be that the permanent 12V to tow electric sockets is rated at 15A, so I would not be keen on supplying an adapter which would permit use of higher current chargers.
