Driving home from work, all seemed well.........did a 90 degree left turn out of a T junction and thought that the steering wheel suddenly resisted movement slightly more than usual, and then freed up to be much lighter than normal.
The speedo just stayed at 0, DSC light on, Air Sus Inactive message, abs and other brake warnings lit. Car seemed fine other than really light steering. Turning off and on again cleared the Air Susp message but nothing else. Plugged IID Tool in and it said fault read from ABS module - Temporary System deactivation. Put light steering down to the servotronic bit not getting a speed signal. Just a guess though. Turned it all off now...... I hate to say it but I would try a battery disconnect and reconnect before anything else. |

Could be a duff ABS sensor, E39 BMWs do the same. |

the 90 degree turn might have dis-lodged or broken the ^ abs sensor.. ... - .- -.

As the abs is the first in line of all the sensors if it has a fualt, it triggers off all the other sensors.

TDV8s and Td6s are very different electrically, so don't necessarily assume it's an ABS issue. |

I've had to take the day off too! I commute into Derbyshire so I have to find the fault ASAP so the same thing doesn't happen again. It's driveable for now but feels a little like Russian roulette......!

Quick update. Garage looked at the car today, and as suspected, there is no signal from the rear left ABS sensor regarding wheel rotation.
