General Grabber AT invalidate insurance!!!!!

Has anyone else come across this. I have a TDV8 with 255/50R20 Yokohama tyres have phoned to get a quote for 275/45R20 (as advised by others who have used these tyres) to be told that I have to check with my insurance company first as the speed rating is much lower!! Gone: 2005 4.4 Vogue (LHD) Java Black

any non-standard tyres/wheels fitted on to the range rover will give the insurance company's an excuse not to pay out in an event of a claim... ... - .- -.

Following from Stan, above - it's the easiest win for an insurance company.
If you have a bump - regardless of circs or blame - and you car is examined, it's one of the first things they look at. If your tyres aren't upto the specification set by Land Rover - you're playing Russian roulette . . .

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

Grabber ATs in that size are H-rated (130 mph) so should be fine in terms of speed rating for an L322 TDV8. Manufacturer-approved sizes and insurance is a different matter.

There is no off-road option for the L405 in 255/55R20 that I'm aware of (TDV8 supposedly limited to 135 mph).

UHPs are road tyres, certainly no more (and probably less) use off-road than the OEM ones.

I've said it before so many times but it falls on deaf ears. Non standard tyres sizes are a no-no Discovery 4 HSE

it appears to be the 20'' which suffer lack of chunky tyres Mick, i think the 19'' are well supplied. ... - .- -.

You're not going to have any potential insurance issues if the size is what the manufacturer recommends and the speed rating is high enough.

Since Grabber ATs come in the OEM 19" size of 255/55R19, and are H-rated in that size, I can't see an issue if that's what you have. It's entirely impractical and unreasonable for any insurer to expect you to stick to the specific model of tyre the car was originally supplied with.

So is Privacy Glass in the Front Thumbs Up what was the view of your insurer's on this?

Non Standard Tyres are not illegal, front Privacy Glass is - its up to the owner to check with their insurer re changes in tyres and if it would make any changes to their cover. That said any non standard tyre make that isn't OEM could be considered to also invalidate your insurance. 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

^ +1

My 19's came with 111V.. So anything less than that is not going to be standard. It has been discussed quite a few times before. Previously..

If the tyre is of the correct size and meets (or exceeds) the manufacturer's specifications and requirements no insurance company could reasonably query it.
