2 new faults this week ! Argh!

Rolling Eyes loud crackles through speakers....sound goes on and off but radio, cd etc all still works. Read posts and want to know best steps to unfold what is going on rather than buying new amp etc.. And still having issues.
Had the sat nav unit out 2years ago as causing battery drain.... is this all connected, not other problems with any other electrics at the minute!!!!! assuming the window seal issue and problems with kit in the back. My RR is a 2004 vogue.

Air suspension inactive...all lights out not just a reset..have had battery off for 24 hours too. Had new pump in 2011.surely not this again! What should I look into first.

Went to the LRO show wand was advised to. Join this forum....help!

Emma

Stereo more tricky than the air suspension! (Never thought I would say that!)

AIR SUSPENSION
If you have the inactive message and all lights are out on the dash, then you need a hard reset. This means the car needs to be plugged in and codes reset before it will come back to life (in most cases). fault codes should give an indication of what went wrong......

Then to find out what caused it, easiest to check are the airbags on all four corners, go to off road height (if you can!) and lift at each corner any hissing indicates a split bag. Leave it like this overnight to see if the suspension drops in any way.

Also check the condition of the height sensors on each corner

Next is the compressor (in spare wheel well) after that the air reservoir, then the cross valves front and rear, or perhaps a loose pipe.

Codes first.

STEREO
First check for damp/water ingress in the left rear cubby.
Next disconnect everything (in turn) clean up the pins and sockets and replace.
Try again
Then it is seeking to identify which element. As radio and CD seem to still be pumping out the tunes, most likely cause is DSP or Amp.

If you are keeping the car, possibly worth getting a diagnostic tool, unless you have a tame Indie with Testbook or similar. .

Bang for buck is the IIDTool, as long as your dash pixels are OK .

Fault code readings today

Audio - Entertainment unit. Part number YIL000023. Showing fault LR specialist said that you can buy a link wire to bypass the unit? The LR main dealer has no idea.... Nothing on eBay..... Not keen to buy replacement one as apparently common fault. Has anyone heard of this. Or where to get one?

Air suspension - Air suspension accumulator. Possible fault indicated. This one kept coming back up after being cleared. More investigations!

Any ideas ?

Audio YIL000023

What we call the TV/Video module. They pop up on eBay every now and then, especially the analog TV ones Wink

Otherwise try Baris (on the forum) he rebuilds these and makes up to DVB-T too Smile

Check the connections are all clean and functioning though.

Air suspension accumulator

What we call the reservoir. Two likely issues, compressor is knackered and can't keep up with demand, or you have a leak on or around the reservoir. There is a valve that "can" be replaced. Search forum for more details, lots on here. .

Air to coil spring conversion

I have PM'd Baris re the issues with the audio/dsp unit, Thank you.

We need a new EAS air suspension compressor. This is the second one the vehicle has had..(this one 3 years old) We are toying with the idea of a spring conversion. We are fed up with the constant maintenance. has anyone first hand experience of the ride quality? Is it really, really bad.. does it make the RR more like a typical 4x4 tractor type ride. Our RR is a working vehicle, low miles but we tow horses, some driving in fields - but not defined as off roading in the true sense. etc... no motorway miles - just short journeys at low speeds!

Any thoughts - advice - words of warning.

New compressor all sorted - just sound system to sort

We fitted a new compressor - cleared all faults all hunky dory now.
Had water ingress in boot - so new boot seal and water shedder in place too.

We have narrowed fault to the black Lear amp. Does anyone repair these? There is no evidence of water damage to any of the electrical units. The system works intermittently then the crackles start. Even when you turn audio off crackle continue until you take the key out.

Any help in where to source or repair an amp appreciated. Do they have to be coded to the vehicle?
