No, I gave up and just put the new pads in. There comes a point where my time is more valuable than just paying someone to do it for me. I spent the weekend detailing instead! |

New pads on old discs? Nothing wrong with that, but ideally you should have waited till the new discs were fitted, so that they "mate". 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded |

I generally get 3 sets of pads to a disc - but this will be the 4th so there is a bit of a step, but they seem to have bedded in ok.

Keep an eye on your discs. They'll need to come off immediately if you should see this:

I bit the bullet and booked the RR into the garage to get the discs changed. I also needed to get the NSF CV boot replaced because it had split so I thought it would make sense to get the discs done at the same time….

Speaking of which, why does nobody make a set of high quality braided hoses for th FFRR? I know a lot of FF drivers would not really care but some of us enthusiasts and drivers of the older L322's might since a lot of us do maintenance ourselves. I have found a place who will make them up but I would have to buy original ones for them to copy. Bit costly that. |

Really?? an X5? I know they share some common parts but I don't know how far that goes. |

"Common Parts" It would take less time to list the parts they don't have in common. For example, the front brake pads fit: E46 99-07. 325 i, 330 ci, 330 d, M3 3.2 E38 94-01. 725 TDI, 728 i, 730 D, 730 i, 735 i, 740 D, 740 i, 750 i E39 98-03. M5 X3 04-07. 2.0 i, 2.0 D, 2.5 SI, 3.0 D X5 01-07. 3.0 i, 3.0 D, 4.4 i, 4.6 is, 4.8 is RANGE ROVER MK 3 02-07. 3.0 TD6, 3.6 TD8, 4.2, 4.4 So, you have the same pads in a Range Rover as you do in a 3 series that weighs half as much! |

Thanks for the links noddy, hoping my front discs come off OK . I've done a few hundred miles on these now so they should be bedded in and they definately seem to have less fade. However slowing from speed (80 to 50) seems to have a fair bit of wobble, but not sure if this is wheel balancing that's out as it doesnt happen all the time.

Not wanting to cause alarm dan - but from your photos, it does not look like the pads are applying even contact to the discs - the discs show several different contact 'bands' with quite a large area on the outer edge of the disc not looking as though it is being touched by the pads?
