Ok let me try to clear up a few things:
These keys are to replace the 02 to 05 range rover keys; this would be the 3 button old bmw style keys.
When replacing your key all you need from your old key is the transponder chip this is what talks to your EWS and allows the key to start the car. The circuit board controls the central locking.
I can make new transponder chips for cars up to around 05 that have the bmw EWS, so if you have only the one key and you want a complete new key I can make a new chip but I will have to have your EWS unit to read,
Some late 05, 06 cars have the old style key as well and you can still swap over the transponder chip but I have found that some later cars have different central locking receivers and won’t sync, this is the problem
The circuit board in the replacement keys work the central locking only and have to be sync to the car, here is where it gets strange; I have had people say it has sync to their late 05 touch screen car and even on a 06 so I think it’s 50/50 on the later cars
I have a spare key that I have sent out to a forum member to test on his car and can offer this to forum members that have the later car with the 3 button style key,
There are two types, original and new style, both styles are available in UK 433 MHz and European /American 315 MHz
I can’t make transponder chips for the later 06 and on cars, sorry V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Thanks for the clarification Dave.

In my case, I'm pretty sure that I have the "old" central locking as my two keys I bought on ebay (original RR flip keys, I bought the second to ensure the first one wasn't a dud) don't work on my car.

The transponder is no issue, I have taken that from a woggered key and it works fine in the housing of the flip keys I have. Initially I had an issue as the transponder on the RR flip keys is soldered onto the circuit board and it of course "confused" the EWS. After removing that transponder, the flip key can start the car fine, just not open/close the doors.

So please put me down as a definite, new style, 315 MHz. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Dave's test key worked perfectly first time 2005 (55) plate Supercharged.

I will take 2 of the original style keys. Key ready for next experimenter

ok, it looks like the order is almost ready, we now know the keys will work the cntral locking on cars up to late 05 cars with touch screen, i would like to try a early 2006 car to see it it will sync. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Dave mines a Jan 2006 registered 55 plate if thats worth a try.
