I think all small trolley suitcases should be banned and those who use them Censored with their own case.

Travelling a lot for work and seeing a grown man dragging a stupid little carry on bag; taking up extra space in the queue, stopping at stairs to collapse the handle, and again at the top to extend it before trundling off again.- makes me laugh bitterly.

That and El fatsos heading off to Benidorm with their fat kids and fat wives. Yuck. try putting down the fork!

If people can't carry a tiny carry on case they need to have a good look at themselves.

Pathetic.

Depends what you're carrying really - I hate checking in luggage, so have brought some fairly weird stuff through as hand baggage - and some of it quite heavy - BA will let me carry 23kg (& I've exceeded that on occasion) - and whilst I'm fine lifting that over my head & into a locker, it's is a lot to lug through the airport as it can be quite a long walk, especially lop sided as it's all in 1 bag.

Last week it was this which had the security guys at Gatwick conferring - in the end they could think of no good reason why not - mains operated and nothing sharp - they were considering it a 'workmans tool' which is banned, but ended up agreeing to let me carry it Thumbs Up

Laughing My family spend 7 weeks in Bordeaux in the summer, I manage 3 of those & a couple of weekends - I use this for lifting the hard roof off my Jeep - the last one broke & it was cheaper to buy one in the UK & bring it with me Thumbs Up

I've brought plenty of Jeep bits back from the US too - including locking differentials in hand luggage Whistle

@Alistair, fair point I'm mostly talking about the usual suspects with <15kg

Mind you I also want to euthanise the thickos who get all the way to the scanners before realising they actually have to take laptops, belts etc out... Then "forget" their bottle of water when there are signs all the way through the queue.

Wonder if a captive bolt gun is forbidden in my carry on?

Laughing

Very Happy As a regular traveller, it causes a mix of amusement & frustration.

The US is worse - The TSA set a record in May for the most guns seized in one week - 65 in all, 45 of them loaded and 15 with bullets in the chamber and ready to be fired !!!!!

Ha ha!!
Reminds me of a situation way back when I used to work at the FCO (Foreign Office) in London back in the '80s. I used to work in a Dept. that coordinated the Diplomatic Couriers and often they would get asked to take some weird things with them when they flew abroad delivering the 'Diplomatic Bags'.

One poor sod was requested to take a 'couple of bits and bobs' out for the Ambassador in Lima, Peru. The Courier replied 'no problem', get the bits to Heathrow and I'll put them in the overhead locker'.

Imagine his surprise when the 'bits' turned out to be a full exhaust system and four new tyres for a RR Classic!! He had been allocated two seats on the flight (one for him and one for the Diplomatic Pouch), and so had to sit for eleven hours with an exhaust and tyres balanced on him and the spare seat!!

BA couldn't refuse to take the items on board the plane either, as they were labelled as 'Diplomatic Baggage'!! Rolling with laughter

I prefer the 33kg baggage with BA Wink TBH i just stick to a a large rucsac that can get me by for 2 days and everything else in the hold. I do have a waiver so take some water through with me as i detest the 3* fee for bottles of sodding tap water!

Tend to get the 'you've done this before' from the scanner guys as i try and lay the stuff out so it only requires a single pass Smile I've seen how some people pile the stuff up in the crates and the guys take multiple passes to get a clear read of the items and they always ask 'can you make the picture clearer?' its fecking xrays and the cheapest turdest screen they could put on the unit and thru some 70's wild colours on it for a laugh! so hold on a minute i'll get my magic engineers wand and make it all perfect for you!

Chartered flights are so much better Smile Pilot checks passport, takes bags and you wander onto plane and get a choice of drink Smile bish bash bosh the stewardess has joined the 11k high club for upteenth time Wink FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I took Range Rover parts on a plane last year. They did a full security check. I thought for a moment it would include a cavity searchbut fortunately they relented when they saw it was just brake pads and filters.

Back on topic....I was hoping the scooter would be something like this - now that would be cool.

These words rang so true last night - there was a bloke at Gatwick mincing along with a tiny little bag on wheels, then stops right at the base of an escalator to try to collapse the handle, causing an immediate queue - which was bad enough - but the stupid Censored did the exact same thing as he stepped off, causing a slightly amusing pile up as everyone on the escalator with nowhere else to go, piled into the back of him, just as he was bending over - and sent him flying Rolling with laughter
