Air Conditioning Service with LPG installed?

my air con is blowing cold on the left hand and warm on the right hand.
I did a search on here and found a couple of examples of how this had been fixed by a recharge / reoil
so I had a chap around today to have a look
he could get his manifold plumbed into the HP side on the top of the radiator but the lpg gubbins stopped him plumbing into the return. he couldn't physically get to the connection.
he asked me to run the engine and the air con and after about five minutes he showed me the HP side had gone up to 8 bar and the pipe was hot.
I asked him what options there were.
he said he couldn't do anything as he couldn't diagnose the issue without being able to plumb all his manifold into the system. he suggested that when I had it regassed last year the garage had connected to HP side only, vacuumed the system and then dropped as much as they could into it.
I shall book it in for an LPG service as its due one anyway and ask them to get a man in while it's with them.
has anyone else had this problem with a Prinz system?

chap could not say. he reckoned he could not diagnose anything if he could not plum his manifold into both HP and LP ports
there's a well regarded LPG place up Derby way that does aircon also.
I'll see if I can get it in there before. i melt. glad I have chilled seats.

Could be the valves which control the coolant flow to the heater matricees, there are 2, one for each side, one may be stuck open and allowing the hot water into the matrix, overpowering the cold flow from the ac.

Possible? Dunno but its a theory.

There is only one ac system so if it is cooling one side then the chances are that it is working and that it may be a stuck diverter valve. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

You need to go to someone with the a right angled ac connector - that's what I did on my LPG SC Thumbs Up Stolen / Gone: 2006MY Supercharged LPG Autobiography - Zambezi Silver with Sand/Jet/Jet Oxford Leather.....

I did sort of feel this guy was a chocolate fireguard. I explained that I had the lpg coz it was the supercharged Jag engine and he started waffling on about the Mondeo and Jag x type and then said my car was a ford fiesta

I'll perhaps get some satisfaction from someone who appreciates the Fatty

I dragged a very hot Fatty to three workshops who advertised themselves as AirCon specialists to no joy.
Having bought a Snap On automatic machine don't make em specialists
Not one of them could help.
Eventually, one of my pals reminded me about a specialist AirCon only place.
I got the old boy running it to wander out to scope the "issue"
No problem he said and then started rambling about redundant office workers spending their payoffs on £6 grand franchises.
Anyway, it's booked in for Monday so only a couple of swelterers left to endure

Yip loads popping up that are mobile types with the automatic equipment.

Last time i had a car done they fully vacummed the system and then plonked the premixed gas canister on a scale and weighed in the correct amount to within .1g Very Happy i was quite happy with that for £45 Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

And that is the only way it can be done properly

Anf if it is a rally good specialist he will put some florescent die in so you can always see if there is a leak

right, it went in to see the old boys today I didn't tell them anything other than it wasnt as cold as it was.
I did this to see what they found rather than give em clues.
they couldn't get to the LP port either so plumbed in thru the HP port
after 45 mins they came out and said they found no leaks so didn't know where the cooly stuff had gone
they used some sniffy wand thing and found nowt
so they gassed it up and told me it was only blowing cold on the left hand and a bit warmer on the right
so I'm back where I started but a little bit colder
now the refrigerant quantity is possibly not part of the problem, what else can it be?

Its got to be a faulty flap not diverting the right air to that right side. Time to get reading up on RAVE i thinks! FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

erm,

could it be the coolant valves in the engine bay. if its not the aircon coolant maybe one of those is not shutting off properly and letting hot water into the heater matrix for the hotter side....... warming the cooled air passing through it. just a thought, either that or one of your flaps is stuck.....

the heater matrix is divided in 2, for left and right, each half is controlled by a separate control solenoid in the engine bay, on my tdv8 they are tucked away on the passenger side between the engine and inner wing. this allows dual zone control of the temperature. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Is this a "new" problem or could it have been around since the LPG was fitted ?

It could be worth getting the LPG hot water supply checked - I'm not sure about the Jag based engines but the BMW based motors were very easy to plumb up badly and give the symptoms you describe.

Im taking it for a LPG service tomorrow so I shall ask the chap

the regas helped the problem for all of about 10 minutes and it's worse than before now

still, LPG service tomorrow and then a proper service next week at a good independent.

hopefully that'll flush out the issue

Im frigging melting in the car and the cooled seats are like a gnat farting
