so today my IIDTool arrived and I went outside to play with it
straight away it said the compressor clutch was faulty
I'm guessing that's a new compressor then
how much is that job usually?

just check it's electrically plugged properly in first! you dont want to change compressor, if its just slightly loose connection. i'm here coz mine has a leak, and gathering info before blitzing system.

It could be a connector or wiring indeed, worth a check. Also you can take the connector of and see if the coupling can be activated externally by putting 12V on it directly.

Unfortunately my old compressor and clutch are gone, so I can't see how to take it of but I am very sure you can (they had to put it on at some point as well Smile ). Probably a central bolt and splined shaft or something. Maybe one of the others on the forum, like Craig has done this before.

Also see if you can find info on the internet, you'd be surprised what you can find after a few hours searching sometimes.

Edit : make that minutes (google search: removal clutch compressor air conditioning range rover):

Nope, now you just need to find a good Indy that can do the work for you or get your hands dirty. No clue what the clutches go for but Dan can probably give you a quick price Smile And I bet Craig will do a great job as well if he is not to far from you Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

this linky has been posted before so that's a compressor for £310.58 unless anyone knows anywhere cheaper? or there's a reason not to use this source or product?

http://www.autoairconparts.co.uk/car-air-c...-9740.html

I'll go see my Indie for a chat to see if they can source one cheaper and I'll give them the work as I'm building a relationship with them

I reckon that'll be the best part of £500 to get fixed inc gas
